Some have asked about the Eucharistic Prayer we've been using the last few weeks. It's taken from Enriching our Worship, a supplemental text approved by The General Convention in 1997. The prayers in this resource are intended to expand the language, images, and metaphors we use in worship. In this season of Epiphany when we focus on the ongoing revelation of God in Christ, I invite you to discover what new things you find in the beautiful language of this prayer. I especially like naming God as "the source of life abundant," and envisioning God "as a mother cares for her children, you would not forget us." We will return to Eucharistic Prayer A in The Book of Common Prayer for the season of Lent. Its language and images of God are more penitential as is appropriate for the season.

Pennywise Thrift Store
Closed Until Further Notice!
On Thursday, January 24 there was a fire at Bouton Hall, the location of Pennywise Thrift Store. Bouton Hall is owned by the Concord Masonic Lodge. A tree behind the building fell and took down the power line to the building, sparking a fire at the electrical box in the basement. Thankfully, there were no injuries. The fire was confined to the basement storage room near the electrical box. The storage room was damaged and electrical smoke circulated through the entire building. The store will remain closed until further notice and donations are not being accepted now. Updates will be posted here and in all other Holy Comforter publications. A video of the response to the fire can be viewed HERE.
