Growing in Gratitude
PLEASE NOTE: In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Church Office will be closed Monday, January 17. During that time, please use the pastoral care line (703-216-1864) should you need emergency clergy support—this number is also on the outgoing message on our Church Office voicemail when there is no one available to answer the phone.
125 Years
How has Holy Comforter Changed Your Life?

Holy Comforter celebrates 125 years! All parishioners—youth and adult—are invited to record short videos recalling how Holy Comforter has impacted their lives. The videos will be combined into a short movie that will be shown during our 125th Anniversary Celebration in May. If you are interested in sharing your story, please contact Denis McMullan.

Book and Movie Club: Caste
Monday, January 17; 7 p.m. on Zoom
(Sponsored by Becoming Beloved Community)

Isabel Wilkerson gives us a masterful portrait of an unseen phenomenon in America as she explores, through a deeply researched narrative of real people, how America today and throughout its history has been shaped by a hidden caste system, a rigid hierarchy of human rankings. The book is available in print and on Kindle. Please read ahead of time, and we’ll discuss during the Zoom call. Learn more and join on Zoom.

Episcopal 101 is a class for newcomers and old-timers alike—anyone who seeks a deeper relationship with God and to learn more about the Episcopal Church. It will meet on Zoom on Monday evenings, starting on January 31 from 7:15 to 8:45 p.m.

Over the course of 14 sessions we will dive into the theology and history of the Episcopal Church, scripture, and the Book of Common Prayer. We’ll explore different forms of prayer and learn about the ministries of Holy Comforter. At the end, some will choose to be baptized, confirmed, or received into the Episcopal Church, but that is not a requirement. We are limiting participation to 20 people. All are welcome in this safe space to ask all of your questions. Come and experience the presence of the living Christ in one another, even on Zoom! Learn more and register.
Pennywise has fur coats for sale! Stop by to see the selection. Also—are you looking for something to do for 2 hours on a Sunday afternoon? Pennywise is looking for Sunday volunteers for February! Please sign up to volunteer! Please contact Judy Boott with questions or for more information.
