Pandemic Assistance

The Youth ministry has multiple 2-person teams of a parent and youth available to help those who need groceries, medications, or other items delivered to their doorstep. The teams will do the shopping and delivering. In order to maintain social distancing recommendations, recipients will be billed by mail and can pay online at the church website HERE (select "Operating Fund" and write "Groceries" in the memo line), or by mailing a check to the Church Office.

To arrange a delivery please email Denis McMullan or call/text him at 703-615-3671.

If you are a senior parishioner—regardless of your health—or if you are in a high risk category, please take advantage of this offer to reduce your risk of infection.
In this new reality of uncertainty, change and fear, what we do have in our lives is the connection of the internet and the Presence of God. Grace Space is resource and support for such a time as this; with a chance to experience some healing fellowship using the spiritual guidance of Gestalt Pastoral Care. Alexandra MacCracken, our Gestalt Pastoral Care Minister, will be offering online small-group gatherings with guided meditation, sharing time, and prayer to help you process the fears of this time.

The greatest gift we can give one another is our trusting love towards one another and God. If we can model trust and faith for each other, we can help our sisters and brothers at least abide in peace during this tumultuous time of unknown parameters. Groups will be a maximum of 10 and will last about two hours. If there is enough interest, several groups per week could be held.

Grace Space times are available Monday, March 23 and Friday, March 27, 1–3 p.m. Please contact Alexandra MacCracken to be included—first come, first served.

Online Math Tutoring

Free remote math tutoring is being offered by one of our Holy Comforter seniors who has a lot of experience tutoring for Facets. "I have tutored math for many years and the students are my real Energizer batteries. Now I find myself unable to do my volunteer tutoring in person with Facets. I can tutor from Algebra I through PreCalculus/Trig. I do not do Statistics." For questions or to arrange an online tutoring session, please send your email HERE.

Holy Comforter has upgraded to a new database and a new mobile phone app called REALM Connect. If you do not already have access, you will need to create a new login and password on the REALM system. Contact Peggy Miller in the Church Office for a login link. Be aware that this login link is only good for 24 hours. Once you have registered on REALM, please update your account info and go online to the Apple Store or Google Play Store and download the app called “REALM Connect.” See you soon on CHC social media!
Pennywise Thrift Shop Closed

Pennywise Thrift Shop is temporarily closed in order to protect our volunteers and customers from COVID-19 Virus. We feel with the call for social distancing, this is the best decision for everyone’s heath. We will re-evaluate around March 27, so stay tuned for updated information.
Dear Senior Saints,

As many of you may have anticipated, because of the social distancing recommended for this Corona Virus episode, especially for seniors, our April Virginia Theological Seminary tour and lunch has been canceled. Hopefully it will be rescheduled in September.

For those who have already sent in reservation checks, you may either request a refund or keep the credit on the books for a rescheduled tour date. We will not meet in April. A notice will be sent out if we are able to have a meeting in May. Stay healthy, and may God bless each and every one of us.
