Crop Walk
Last Call for CROP Walkers and Donations!
The 50th annual Vienna CROP walk to end hunger is this Sunday, October 7 at 2 p.m. Registration begins at 1:15. The Walk begins at the Town Green and will end at Vienna Presbyterian Church, and will take between 45 minutes and an hour and a half, at your own pace, with a break in the middle at Emmaus United Church of Christ for water and a pick-me-up snack. Holy Comforter has set a goal of 20 walkers, and $1500 in donations; currently our walker numbers are rather fluid, and our donations stand at $760. If you would like to register as a walker, or to make a donation, you have two options:
  • Register online HERE as part of the Holy Comforter team, or donate to either a specific walker or to the team.
  • See Joni Langevoort in the narthex this Sunday morning, where there will be walker registration envelopes and a donation box.
Please note there is no cost to walk, but donations will be accepted either online or at registration. A generous portion of the proceeds go to our very own Committee for Helping Others, for their food pantry. Questions? Contact Joni Langevoort. Please join us in making this 50th anniversary walk a success for our community!

NEWS & FELLOWSHIP
Blenheim House
Senior Saints Tour
of Blenheim House
and Lunch at Bob Evans
This Friday, October 5
The Senior Saints meeting on October 5 will begin with a tour of Blenheim House at 3610 Old Lee Highway in Fairfax, Virginia. Historic Blenheim ca. 1859, is a central-hall plan Greek Revival-style brick farmhouse, built just prior to the Civil War, with more than an amazing 122 Civil War inscriptions left on the house walls by Union soldiers during their occupation of the Fairfax Court House area in 1862-1863. These inscriptions are known as the "Diary on the Walls." There is no charge for the tour. We will have lunch as a group at Bob Evans.

If you plan to drive directly to Blenheim House, please arrive in time for a 10:30 tour. Carpooling from Holy Comforter at 9:45 am will be arranged for those who wish to drive and those who wish to ride.

Please contact Sandy Titus to sign up, and let her know if you plan to drive separately, or if you will drive and have room for one or more carpoolers, or if you prefer not to drive and would like a ride.
