Sign up for Garden of Gethsemane Vigil
Each year, St. Mary's Altar Guild creates an indoor garden in St. Mary's Chapel as a gift to the Parish. Following the Maundy Thursday evening liturgy, a Prayer Vigil begins in our candle-lit Chapel, keeping watch throughout the night until the Way of the Cross service at 12:10 p.m. on Good Friday. There is a poster in the narthex where you can sign up for a time of prayer in the Chapel, or feel free to come as the Spirit moves you. The front doors will be open, lights on in the narthex, and prayer books, bibles, hymnals and plain paper available. Please consider taking a time slot! Every prayer is meaningful!

Summer Grants for Parish Youth
Attention parents! Once again, ECW will be offering grants to parish youth to encourage their participation in a Christian activity this summer. One grant per child is available for attendance at Shrine Mont or another Christian camp. Grant amounts will be determined in May based on the number of applicants and the total grant funds available, and are limited to $100 per child. Application forms are available for download HERE, and all applications are due by April 28.
More shoes are desperately needed to meet our goal of 500 pairs of shoes!
Please consider donating used athletic shoes to help raise money for our Youth Mission Trip to Boston in July. Drop off your shoes (tied together) in the box in the narthex. With every pair of shoes, More Foundation is able to plant one ton of carbon grounding trees and train poor farmers in sustainable agroforestry. A minimum of 500 pairs of shoes is needed in order to participate in the program. The youth will receive $1 for every donated pair of shoes. Learn more about More Foundation HERE.
Attention High School Seniors!
Do you know about Holy Comforter's Carol Stock Book Fund? The Fund is in memory of our deceased parishioner, Carol Stock, and has been making textbook grants available to graduating seniors for many years. If you're a senior who has been active at Holy Comforter and are planning to continue your education, you can apply for one of these $100 grants. If you haven't received an application yet, please contact Lisa Arnold directly to request one. Applications are due in the church office c/o the Endowment Board/Lisa Arnold by May 4.
Ann Gillespie
Help Welcome Ann Gillespie!
We are excited that the Rev. Ann Gillespie, our new Associate Rector, and her family will arrive at Holy Comforter on June 2. To celebrate Ann's arrival we are hosting an old-fashioned Parish Pounding. Traditionally, a parish pounding involves bringing a pound of this or a pound of that of non-perishable goods such as flour and sugar to get a new priest's kitchen stocked. Today we can still bring a pound of sugar or flour but you can be creative with grocery store and restaurant gift cards or a bottle of balsamic vinegar, olive oil, or wine. Please only include non-perishable items. You can drop them off between now and May 12 in the Church Office. We will present them to Ann when she arrives. Thanks for making Ann and her family feel welcome. Questions? Please contact Christa Hyland.

Moms' Group
This Friday, April 12; 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the Lillian Croy Room
Join the Moms' Group for coffee and fellowship as we continue our discussion of the book, Making a Home for Faith: Nurturing the Spiritual Life of Your Children by Elizabeth F. Caldwell. Beth Strand is moderating this book study during Lent. You are welcome to join the discussion even if you are unable to complete the readings. Questions? Please contact Amy Britton. Childcare is available across the hall in the Childcare Center.
The Moms' Group is collecting baby wipes (most needed item), baby food, formula, and diapers to be distributed at Next Step Family Program in Alexandria. If you are interested in contributing, please bring items to our next Moms' Group meeting on April 12 or drop them off at the Church Office. Questions? Please contact Amy Britton.

Pennywise Thrift Shop
Pennywise Thrift Shop Update
The Pennywise Thrift Shop remains closed due to the January 24 fire. The building owner, Concord Masonic Lodge, estimates it will be about 6 months before the shop could reopen, when repairs are completed. The Masons and the Town of Vienna are still discussing the town's possible purchase of the building, but there has been no movement on that front. Most items not covered by the insurance claim remain in the shop until we are advised that they must be removed for building repairs. Possible temporary locations are being explored. Please visit the Pennywise Facebook page for updated information.

Ministry Center
Work is progressing on the new Ministry Center as the exterior window trim is completed. Check out pictures of progress to date HERE.
