Ann Gillespie
Help Welcome Ann Gillespie
To celebrate Ann Gillespie's ministry at Holy Comforter we are having an old-fashioned parish pounding. Please bring non-perishable items to help the Gillespies set up their new home at Rodman House. Think about what you would need to set up a new home. Gifts such as olive oil, balsamic vinegar, a bottle of wine, a pound of sugar, dish towels, and sponges are welcome. Grocery store gift cards are welcome too. Be creative on non-perishable gifts that they will need. If you prefer to give cash, we will fill out the pounding with needed items.

This Sunday, please drop your check (with "Ann Gillespie Pounding" written in the memo line) or cash in a sealed envelope (with "Ann Gillespie Pounding" written on the outside) in the collection plate. Or drop off your gift to the Church Office or the old Children's Ministries office located near the church library. Please support this warm welcoming for our newest priest. Thanks for your support! Questions? Please contact Christa Hyland.

Voce 30th Anniversary Celebration
Britten: Noye's Fludde
Sunday, May 19 at 4 p.m.; The Falls Church, Episcopal
As a special "postscript" to the season, Voce will celebrate their 30th anniversary with a semi-staged performance of English composer Benjamin Britten's community opera, Noye's Fludde (Noah's Flood). Bringing together over 150 singers and players of all ages from throughout Fairfax County -- including our own Minister of Music David Kelley, who will play the organ -- this performance is both a celebration of Voce and of the vitality of music and the arts in our community.
United Thank Offering
UTO Spring Ingathering
  • How can we show gratitude for daily blessings?
  • How can you show support for the mission work of the Episcopalian community?
  • How can you teach your children to be aware of their ability to help others?
  • By making a daily offering in your Blue Box with thanksgiving, prayers, and generosity.
Every penny collected in the little blue boxes and in every UTO ingathering goes directly to the United Thank Offering board of the National Episcopal Church to be given in UTO grants. In the past, grants have gone to: the youth ministry at St. Gabriel's, Leesburg as seed money for a part-time youth minister; an international partnership request from Christ Church Glen Allen; and Hope for Humanity working in South Sudan. Grants have also funded new kitchens at Trinity, Charlottesville and St. Peter's, Port Royal.

Pick up your blue boxes in the narthex this weekend. Return your blue box to church on Saturday and Sunday May 18-19. Questions? Please contact Judy Kilkenny.

Pennywise Thrift Shop
Pennywise Thrift Shop Update
Pennywise Thrift Shop volunteers and previous customers are really missing the shop. Volunteers have run into customers around Vienna and have been told that they hope it reopens soon. We have been told that the building owner, Concord Masonic Lodge, is working with their insurance to finalize the claims. The estimate is still about 6 months before the shop can reopen. The Masons and the Town of Vienna are still discussing the town's possible purchase of the building, but there has been no movement on that front. Please visit the Pennywise Facebook Page for further updated information.
