4 CUP Teams to Compete Among Nation's Best
Cincinnati United Soccer Club, will have four teams playing in the US Youth Soccer National League during the 2011-2012 season. The CUP u15, u16, and u17 Gold boys teams and CUP u17 Gold girls team will take part in the league. Cincinnati United Soccer Club will have more teams competing in the USYS National League than any other club in the country. The league, entering into its fifth season, is for top Under-15 through Under-18 Boys and Girls club soccer teams with each team having an individual proven track record of continued success in US Youth Soccer programs. "To have the most teams in the USYS National League is quite an accomplishment," said Cincinnati United Soccer Club Executive Director, Scott Rodgers. "Our motto of "Bringing the Best Together" is highlighted with this recent news. We are looking forward to seeing our players compete against the nation's best teams in this league." "Over the last few years, our boys and girls sides have worked tirelessly to raise their level of play to be able to earn the right to compete at the highest level" said CUP Boys Director of Coaching, John McGinlay. "We accept this new challenge for our teams head on. These four teams will push our youth players to train harder so they can earn the right to play in this elite environment when they get older." The seven game season will begin with the girls in Atlanta, Ga. alongside the Atlanta College Showcase and the NCAA Women's College Cup Dec. 1-4. The boys kickoff in Birmingham, Ala. Dec. 8-11 at the Collegiate Championship Soccer and Junior Showcases, coinciding with the NCAA Men's College Cup. Teams will participate in one of two other locations per gender consisting of girls' Dec. 31-Jan 2 at the Disney Soccer Showcase in Orlando, Fla., and boys' competition Feb. 18-20 at the Weston Cup and Showcase in Florida. The final play date will combine boys and girls in Las Vegas March 23-25 and be held in conjunction with the Player's College Showcase. The first place team from each division age group, Under-15 through Under-17, will earn a spot to the 2012 US Youth Soccer National Championships along with the four US Youth Soccer Regional Champions.

2011 CU Cup Volunteers Needed
The clubʼs summer tournament, the Cincinnati United Cup, will kick off this month on August 20-21 at three locations in Cincinnati. As a club, this tournament helps generate money to offset costs such as team camp, field expenses, and scholarships. We ask that all of our Cincinnati United families (CUP, CU Lakota/Monroe, CU Southeast, and CU Sycamore Mason) assist in the running of this event.
In the first or second week of August, the club will release the volunteer jobs for this event. We need everyone to lend a helping hand to make this tournament a success. Thank you in advance for your support.

"Soccer Term of the Month"
Each month we will be highlighting soccer terminology. This is a word you may hear on the field from your coach, trainer, or player.
The Soccer Term of the Month is: dummy
This is a trick to fake a certain action, such as pretending to receive the ball, but then letting it through the legs to roll toward a teammate.
