From Your Mayor
Happy Spring!~
Water management challenges are commanding the principal attention of the City this year. Three areas of action include projects relating to drinking water, surface water drainage, and water conditions in Lake Minnetonka.
Two of three city wells are not in use due to trace contamination. The one major well is meeting our needs, but a water treatment plant upgrade and expansion will soon commence, and be finished this fall, to restore the purity of water from all the wells. We are partnered with the Minnesota Department of Health for the design, construction, and financing of this project.
Improving storm water drainage and nutrient removal is the focus of a central area project that was initiated last year and will be completed this spring. Read more
Finally we can enjoy some warmer weather...spring is finally here!

Controlling Storm Water Pollution
Storm water runoff does not go to a wastewater treatment plant. Instead it flows directly into our lakes and streams. There are many ways you can reduce "polluted" runoff.
- Keep trash, leaves, and grass clippings off streets and out of storm drains, streams, and lakes.
- Keep cars tuned up and repair leaks.
- Properly dispose of hazardous wastes.
- Never pour oil, pesticides, paint, anti-freeze, or other materials down the storm drain.
- Minimize the use of pesticides, fertilizers, and deicing materials.
- Test your soil and use zero phosphate fertilizer if possible.
- Pick up and bury or flush pet wastes.
- Wash your car on the lawn or use a commercial car wash.
Spring Road Weight Restrictions Spring Park follows the MnDOT schedule for imposing and removing spring load limits. Restricting heavy loads minimizes road damage and extends life of the street during the spring freeze/thaw cycles when the road is soft and drainage is limited. Seasonal road restrictions details for Spring Park are posted on our website: www.ci.spring-park.mn.us/news Call Before You Dig No matter where you live, the gas, electric, cable TV, water and sewer lines that serve you may be underground.
