MAYOR'S MESSAGE
Happy springtime everyone!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter.

We experienced a very mild winter, which translated into an approximate $250,000 savings to the City in salt and overtime.  Our service department is busy preparing our ball fields for spring sports and engineering is working with a number of contractors to prepare for spring and summer improvement projects.  For information on all of the City's current construction projects, check out the following link www.mytwinsburg.com/177/Construction-Project-Updates

From a financial standpoint, the City experienced another reduction in tax income revenue.  In 2015, income tax revenue was down 14% from 2014.  We are projecting another decrease for 2016.  Over the last few months, I have worked with department heads to reduce our 2016 budget by approximately $1,000,000 from the original proposed budget.  We still anticipate using some of our reserves, but it is a start toward a balanced budget.  I am currently meeting with department heads to begin work on our 2017 budget and to seek ways to reduce expenditures and increase revenue.

Parks and Recreation had a busy March with well attended events such as; the Adult Easter Egg Hunt, Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, Candy Scramble and Wet Egg Hunt for teenagers.  We are preparing for another big Rock the Park concert series this summer and our day camp program registration will be on April 16. The Golf Course officially opened the beginning of March, and we are getting positive feedback on the number of course improvements that have occurred over the past two years.

Twinsburg remains a community on the rise.  We are constantly seeking ways to introduce events and programming that will enhance the quality of life for all residents.  I encourage you to visit our website, mytwinsburg.com, and participate in the many adult, kid and senior activities the City offers.

Sincerely,

Mayor Ted Yates

TRAFFIC ADVISORY: WATCH FOR UPCOMING PROJECTS

Twinsburg is under construction! In the next few weeks, watch out for the following projects and be aware of your surroundings.

SR91/Miktarian (Boulder Brook)
Work is being done on the traffic signal at the Miktarian/Boulder Brook Subdivision. When weather allows, pavement markings and signs indicating "NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN AHEAD" will be installed.

SR91 Widening (Glenwood)
Tasks at SR91/Glenwood: March 2016
Due to winter work not allowing pavement construction, the City is working with contractors to perform as much underground work as possible so that they can hit the ground running when spring begins.

Storm sewer installation on the north/east side of Glenwood will be completed and continue south on the east side of SR91.

The current plan is to install temporary pavement for next stage of construction, which will move traffic to the west side of the intersection. A temporary traffic signal will be erected. The contractor will begin excavating for pavement widening on the east side of SR91 starting at Post Road. East bound traffic at Glenwood may to restricted.

Mortus/Greenwak/Concord/Upper Laurel Reconstruction:
The work in this project includes the replacement of 8" sanitary sewer main and laterals, storm sewer and lateral replacement, pavement removal and replacement, underdrain, concrete apron and sidewalk repairs, and lawn restoration. This will happen on Laurel Drive, Concord Circle, Greenway Drive, Mortus Drive, and Sewer Easements in Rolling Acres Subdivision No. 4.  Private Utility work has started and the Contractor is expected to mobilize to site April 11. ASHLEY FELDMAN HONORED WITH RED CROSS ACTS OF COURAGE AWARD
Ashley Feldman, member of the Twinsburg Community Emergency Response Team, was  honored by the American Red Cross of Summit, Portage and Medina Counties for her bravery and heroism during its annual Acts of Courage event Thursday.

Feldman was on her way to work when she noticed something in an open field near a dog park. She discovered it was an elderly man who had gone to the park with his pooch, lost his footing in the deep snow and was unable to pull himself up.

Though not dressed for the frigid temperatures, Feldman rushed to help him. He confided that he had been lying there for 45 minutes.

Ashley Feldman has also spent time at the Twinsburg Fire Department (TFD), completing a very successful internship. Her mother is Michele Feldman, part-time administrative assistant for the TFD.

Fire Chief Tim Morgan, Assistant Fire Chief Steven Bosso and Feldman attended an awards dinner on March 3.

Congratulations, Ashley!
