I recently had the opportunity to share about who we are and what we do on the #ClackCoWorks series where staff share what the county is doing to serve our community. The series is available as both a podcast and video. I hope you'll check it out! 

December brought some real challenges. We faced several heavy rainstorms that put a lot of pressure on our staff and infrastructure. On Tuesday, December 9, the Portland Metro area saw about 232 billion gallons of rain in just 24 hours. This was considered a 5- to 10-year rain event in the valley and a 25-year event on the mountain. With so much rain, facilities across the region reached capacity or overflowed, and just a week later, another atmospheric river hit us. We plan for these situations, and our staff responded quickly and professionally. They worked nonstop to respond, troubleshoot, and solve problems.

There are countless stories of staff going above and beyond to care for one another and keep our systems running; my sincerest gratitude to each and every one of them. 

This past year, we’ve made great strides on various projects that enhance our ability to support you, including bringing the new Tri-City Water Resource Recovery Facility Outfall Project online. Popular Annual Financial Report

Our mission is to produce clean water, protect water quality, and recover renewable resources. We do this by providing wastewater services, stormwater management, and environmental education. It's our job to protect public health and support the vitality of our communities, natural environment, and economy.

Our Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for the fiscal year (FY) ending June 30, 2025, provides a brief summary of our financial performance, major accomplishments, and demonstrates how we responsibly manage the ratepayer funds entrusted to us.

Willamette Pump Station and Force Main Project

The Willamette Pump Station and Force Main have supported West Linn since 1986. Now, upgrades and expansion are needed so WES can continue to provide a strong and reliable sewer system for the community. Pump stations are essential infrastructure that must work around the clock, every day, to move sewage safely to our treatment facilities.

The project will replace the current pump station with newer, more reliable, and efficient pumps. We will also raise important equipment and access points above flood level to improve emergency readiness. The project includes a new, more resilient force main and a gravity-fed sewer line with a new route, which will boost capacity, reduce the risk of overflows, and make the system work better overall.

What are PFAS? What is Being Done? How You Can Help?

Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS is a term that describes a family of thousands of human-made chemical compounds found in numerous products used in everyday life.

Widespread use of PFAS in the production of common everyday products has resulted in human and animal exposure. PFAS are found in water, air, and soil. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cites research that suggests high levels of certain PFAS may have negative health impacts.

Keep FOG Out of Your Pipes!

Fats, oils and grease (FOG) are found in everyday foods and food ingredients such as meat, fish, butter, mayonnaise, milk, gravies, sauces and food scraps. If poured down the drain or into your garbage disposal, FOG can build up over time by sticking to the insides of sewer pipes and cause blockage and sewer overflows.

February 2 is World Wetlands Day

Although wetlands cover only around 6 percent of the Earth’s land surface, 40 per cent of all plant and animal species live or breed in wetlands. Wetland biodiversity matters for our health, our food supply, for tourism and for jobs.

World Wetlands Day is a global awareness campaign celebrated annually on February 2 to draw awareness to the value of wetlands.
