The Cook Park Community Garden Tour was a big success and earned a $500 cash donation for Clothes To Kids of Denver!
According to event chair, Pat Horgan, this fun event featured a tour of ten gardens and brought in visitors from throughout the Denver Metro area. The event offered visitors tips on gardening, beekeeping, landscaping and even how to raise backyard chickens.
We're grateful to have this organization's generous support!

What We Do
|
Since 2008, Clothes To Kids of Denver (CTKD) has provided more than 23,000 school wardrobes to students in need throughout the Denver Metro area.
Why is an appropriate wardrobe so important?
For children and teens, clothing is more than a basic need -- it's key to their success in school. When students have quality clothing that helps them feel confident, they are more likely to attend school with the self-esteem needed to succeed academically.
At CTKD, students shop in a store-like environment with the help of staff and volunteers who are dedicated to providing a high level of personalized service. Students are invited to shop twice per year.
Recently, CTKD expanded its service area to include ten Denver Metro counties. That expansion means that 190,000 students are now eligible to shop at CTKD.
How Much Does a Wardrobe Cost?
It costs CTKD about $50 to furnish a wardrobe for one child.
Help us ensure we have enough wardrobes to supply this fall's students with the clothes they need to succeed.

With many children in the Denver Metro area already back in school, we're busier than ever. If you have a few hours a week to volunteer, we could really use the help, especially on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

For an organization like ours, back to school season is the busiest time of the year. This fall, in fact, we expect to serve between 800 and 1,000 school children per month. That huge demand for school clothes means we'll need to replenish our inventory often to make sure no child is turned away unserved.
Here are the items we're most in need of:
- New packages of socks (kid size small to adult)
- New packages of underwear (kid size 4T to adult)
- New and gently used shoes (kid size 8 - adult)
- Pants for elementary school age kids (sizes 5-20)
- Pants and shorts for high-school age boys (especially waist size 27-38)
- T-shirts and lightweight long-sleeve shirts for boys and girls (especially sizes M-XL)
- School uniform clothing for boys and girls: solid color polo shirts and khaki, navy and black pants
We're able to take your donations 24/7 with the outdoor collection bin just outside the store.

Socks in the City Update
Our latest Socks in the City party was hosted by Jim and Kristin Ryan at their Littleton home. More than 30 people attended, who together helped raise $1,000 in cash donations as well as 263 pairs of socks . . . although none of these socks were quite as snazzy as Jim's!
A big thank you to Jim and Kristin Ryan for their support and generosity!
To date, our Socks in the City hosts have helped us raise $4,415 in cash donations and 2,504 pairs of donated socks! Plus we've introduced our organization to 157 new people.

Donor Profile: RK Mechanical
Gathering clothing donations for the children we serve is an important task. Inspired by the challenge, our student ambassador, Marko Babiak, came up with the idea for a school bin program, which would install collection bins in schools throughout the Denver Metro area.
But key to the success of this program are the bins themselves. That's why we're so grateful for the support of Denver-based mechanical contractor RK Mechanical and its philanthropic arm, the RK Foundation, which sponsor our school bin program.
By this fall, they will have designed and built a total of 20 custom bins to be located in schools throughout the Denver Metro area. Volunteer "Bin Champions" from each school will be collecting the donated clothing and shoes and delivering them to CTKD periodically.
RK Foundation has committed to supporting CTKD for the long term, and
has pledged to build a total of 50 collection bins by 2019.
We also owe RK Mechanical a big thank-you for building and installing a large, permanent collection bin outside the store. This bin has allowed donors to drop off clothing any time, day or night, seven days a week.
Thanks to Marko Babiak for his inspired idea for the school bin program, and thank you to RK Mechanical and the RK Foundation for helping us implement this thriving program!
