SOUPer Bowl Food Drive XI

Congratulations to Avon for winning the SOUPer Bowl XI Food Drive!! They were presented with the SOUPer Bowl trophy at halftime of the Avon vs. Avon Lake varsity football game on Friday night. Both communities together collected 5,200 pounds of food and a record $20,945 in monetary donations!!

Special thanks to the following people - we couldn't have had a such successful event without them!

Pilot Travel Center in Avon for letting us weigh the food trucks for free!
All of school staff that helped collect the donations as well as the families from every school who donated food and money
All the volunteers that worked at the event and helped unload the trucks the following day!

Thanks for Making A Difference!

Thank you to KeyBank and their Neighbors Make the Difference Day! We had volunteers from KeyBank in the pantry helping us sort and shelf all of the donations that we received in the SOUPer Bowl Food Drive!

Thank you to Paige, Foster and Jenefer Machovina! In celebration of Paige and Foster’s upcoming birthdays, they used some of their birthday money to purchase snack items for our food pantry!

John T. Shook Community Service Award

The John T. Shook Community Service Award pays tribute to a very special friend and longtime CRS Board member who passed away in 2018. John touched the lives of many people in our community. He was dedicated to community service and he volunteered for many local organizations including CRS. In John’s memory, the CRS Board of Directors established an award in his name, to be given annually to an individual or group that embodies John’s commitment to volunteerism for CRS and in our community.

We are now accepting nominations for this award. If you know of an individual or organization that has been dedicated to volunteering for CRS and other organizations in our community, please complete this nomination form. Evaluation of the nominees will be conducted by a selection committee and the recipient will be announced at the Annual Charity Ball being held on January 29, 2022. The deadline to submit nominations is November 1, 2021.

CRS has truly been blessed this month with many donations of non-perishable items for our food pantry.

Avenbury Ladies of the Lake, Avon Lake Giant Eagle, Avon Lake Garden Club, Barry Bagels, Bay Presbyterian Food Pantry, Christ Church Westshore, Avon Lake Community Gardens, Eyring Movers, Geon Performance Solutions, Holy Spirit Church, Hunger Network Food Rescue, and Learwood Middle School 7th Grade Volleyball Team.

This is in addition to the many individuals who bring donations to the CRS office on a daily basis.

We are so very grateful for all of the donations that help keep our food pantry well stocked. Thank you for making a difference, right here at home!

NUTRITIONAL FOOD DONATIONS

Our food pantry exists thanks to so many who generously donate. We currently are in need of jelly, pasta sauce (in plastic jars please), dish soap, toilet paper, shampoo and conditioner and small (40 oz.) liquid laundry detergent. We do not need any canned vegetables right now.
