NEWS FROM

COMMUNITY RESOURCE SERVICES

DECEMBER 2024

As we reflect on the joy and warmth of this holiday season, we are filled with gratitude for your generosity and kindness. Thanks to your support, our Holiday Assistance Programs—Santa's Workshop, Holiday Food Baskets, Family Baskets, and "Be a Santa to a Senior"—were able to make a meaningful impact on so many lives. Your generosity lights up our community in ways words we can barely express.

Because of you, children, families and seniors experienced the magic of the holidays through the gifts and food they might not have otherwise received.

On behalf of the families, children, and seniors whose lives you’ve touched, thank you for being a part of this season of giving. Together, we’ve made the holidays brighter and created memories that will last a lifetime.

It's not too late to donate to Community Resource Services 2024 Annual Fund Campaign

Are you looking for a special and meaningful family project

that highlights the importance of giving back?

Consider a Reverse Advent Family Project!

A reverse advent project is a way to celebrate the spirit of giving during the holidays. This activity involves collecting items for a food pantry in a thoughtful and organized manner, in contrast to the traditional advent calendar where you receive something each day leading up to Christmas. It not only supports those who are struggling with food insecurity, but also teaches important values to your family, fostering a sense of empathy and community. For more information about the Reverse Advent Project, please click here.

Meijer Simply Give Program Supports Hunger Relief Program

CRS is proud to announce our continued partnership with the Meijer to provide much needed support to local families facing food insecurity. From December 29, 2024 through March 29, 2025, $10 Simply Give donation cards will be available for purchase at the Avon Meijer store. CRS uses these donations to purchase items for our food pantry to ensure we are well stocked for the families who rely on us for support. We are grateful to Meijer for their ongoing support of the communities where they do business. Since the Avon Meijer store opened in May 2019, they have donated more than $43,000 in food cards to CRS! THANK YOU for supporting this incredible program!

CRS 2025 CHARITY BALL

We are pleased to announce the Charity Ball, A Night of Heart and Hope, which will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2025. The Charity Ball is our largest fundraiser of the year. It provides a wonderful opportunity to honor our dedicated supporters, donors, volunteers, and sponsors who partner with CRS to support our mission of reducing poverty in Avon and Avon Lake. The evening features hors d’oeuvres, a sit-down dinner, music, dancing, raffles, and an exciting auction, all to benefit CRS.

Sponsorship opportunities are available at different levels. We are also accepting donations for the auctions. If you would like more information about either of these, please contact Sheila at sroth@aalcrs.org.

Is Your Business or Organization Looking for a Way to Support CRS?

Would your business or organization like to support CRS? Hosting a drive for the CRS food pantry is a great way to help!

We are always in need of staples like peanut butter, jelly, hearty soups, cereal, pasta, pasta sauce and canned chicken/tuna. Or you can get creative and collect specific items based on a theme such as snack foods, breakfast foods, toiletries or cleaning supplies. Another great idea is to have a spice drive. It is such a treat to offer our clients spices that they normally wouldn't be able to purchase for themselves.

If you would like more information about hosting a drive, please email our Pantry Manager, Cece Carlson or call her at 440-933-5639.
