Meijer, City of Avon Donate Grocery Cards to CRS

On Thursday, August 22nd, CRS was presented with a donation from Meijer Stores of $5,000 in grocery gift cards. The City of Avon matched their donation with an additional $5,000 in grocery gift cards. This generous donation will be used to help Avon senior citizens who are facing challenges in the aftermath of the recent storm. We are deeply grateful to Meijer, Mayor Jensen, and Avon City Council. Their commitment to the well-being of this vulnerable demographic is inspiring and their donation highlights the collaborative efforts to support those in need during difficult times. We are grateful for the trust they put in CRS as we continue our mission of diminishing the effects of poverty in our community.

Neighbors Helping Neighbors

Last week CRS received this lovely letter that said, "Thank you for everything you do for our community. We were lucky to be spared any problems from the recent tornado, but know that so many in our community were not and that you are helping those victims. We hosted a lemonade stand and our Bridgeside neighbors came out in full force." This is a shining example of neighbors helping neighbors. In two hours they raised $175 to support CRS! Thank you!

Attention Gardeners!

If you ever find yourself with extra produce from your gardens, please consider donating it to the CRS food pantry! Our clients absolutely love to receive healthy, home-grown produce options.

If possible, please drop off your donations early in the week so that we can ensure they are distributed before the weekend. Thank you!

CRS VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back? CRS is currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help at our front desk! As a front desk volunteer, you'll be the welcoming face of our organization. You'll answer phone calls, assist clients with pantry distributions, and other general tasks as needed, in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for a commitment of one day per week, a 2 or 4 hour shift, between 10am and 2pm. If interested, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Amy Good at agood@aalcrs.org or 440-933-5639.

Looking for a Way to Support CRS?

Would your business or organization like to support CRS? Hosting a drive for the CRS food pantry is a great way to help!

We are always in need of staples like peanut butter, jelly, hearty soups, cereal, pasta, pasta sauce and canned chicken/tuna. Or you can get creative and collect specific items based on a theme such as snack foods, breakfast foods, toiletries or cleaning supplies. Another great idea is to have a spice drive. It is such a treat to offer our clients spices that they normally wouldn't be able to purchase for themselves.

If you would like more information about hosting a drive, please email our Pantry Manager, Cece Carlson or call her at 440-933-5639.

We are currently in need of snack foods, canned fruit, Velveeta Shells & Cheese, (or similar brand), side dishes, boxed pasta, canned pasta, hearty soups and toilet paper.

If you are able to donate it would be greatly appreciated. We accept donations during our regular business hours, Monday - Thursday, from 10am - 2pm. Just drive down the alley behind our office and ring the doorbell by the CRS sign. Thank you!!

*We cannot accept clothing, household items or medical supplies. Thank you!

CRS has been blessed this month with many donations of non-perishable items for our food pantry.Thank you to the following businesses and organizations:

Avon Lake Community Garden, Avon on the Lake Garden Club, Avon Lake Giant Eagle, Barry Bagels, Christ Church Westshore, Crumbl Cookie, Holy Spirit Church, Holy Trinity School, Hunger Network Food Rescue, Ladies of the Lake, New Westsiders, and Westshore Mothers of Multiples.

We are so grateful for all of the donations that help keep our food pantry well stocked. Thank you for making a difference, right here at home!
