Young Artist Donates to CRS
Keira Scott knew she wanted to do something to support people who were finding themselves out of work during the first months of the Covid pandemic. She decided to use her love of painting watercolors to raise money for CRS!  She sold beautiful prints for $20 each.
Thank you Keira, we are so grateful for your support!

CRS has truly been blessed with many donations of non-perishable items for our food pantry.

Thank you to the following businesses and organizations:

Avon Lake Garden Club, Avon Lake Presbyterian Church, Avon Lake Public Library, Avon Local Schools, Christ Church Westshore, Holy Spirit Church, Hooks for Hunger 'Fill da Boat", Knights of Columbus, Avenbury Ladies of the Lake, St. Joseph Parish, Avon Lake Heritage Society and the Avon Lake High School Athletic Booster Club for the donations to the July 4th "Unparade", and 9 year-old Anakah Spaetzel for 10 Birthday Boxes.
We are so very grateful for all of the donations! Thank you for making a difference, right here at home!

Help the Community Foundation of Lorain County and the Women's Fund bridge the digital divide by donating gently-used electronics to PCs for People, an organization which refurbishes computers for distribution to eligible recipients.
Drop off is Thursday, August 27 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Parker's Grille & Tavern, 32858 Walker Road, Avon Lake.  A list of accepted electronics can be found at

Due to the uncertainties of planning an event during a global pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to change the 2021 Charity Ball to a virtual event.  While we will miss gathering with you in person to celebrate CRS and all of the good things we do in our community, we need to make the health and safety of our guests, staff and volunteers our top priority.

The Charity Ball committee will be meeting soon to begin planning a truly special virtual event.  Mark your calendar for Saturday, January 30, 2021 and watch for exciting details to follow!

Meijer Simply Give Campaign

Meijer will once again be inviting their customers to join a combined effort to fight hunger by purchasing the $10 Simply Give donation cards through in-store displays located at each check-out register.  The campaign will run from Sunday, August 23, 2020 through Saturday, September 26.

Meijer's 2019 Simply Give Campaign resulted in a donation to CRS of $5,070 in food only gift cards that we used to purchase items for our food pantry! Meijer is a family company focused on enriching the lives in the communities they serve, especially during these challenging times. We are grateful for the support that we receive!

Anakah Spaetzel, age 9, raised funds to create 10 "Birthday Bags" for our young clients. Each bag is filled with fun items like games, party hats, cake mixes, etc.  What a generous and thoughtful way to make a child's birthday party more special. Thank you Anakah!

We are supported by the most generous people!  We recently received this anonymous letter with a $20 bill enclosed. It is very heartwarming to receive a message like this!
SOUPer Bowl XI
Due to the challenges associated with this year's school openings and sports schedules, we have decided to postpone the SOUPer Bowl Food Drive that was scheduled for Friday, August 28, 2020. We hope to reschedule it around another Avon vs. Avon Lake sporting event in the winter or spring.

Our food pantry exists thanks to so many who generously donate.  We currently are in need of cleaning supplies, especially all-purpose cleaners. laundry detergent and Clorox wipes.

Thank you for your generous support in helping to keep our pantry stocked!
