Education has long been considered the great equalizer, offering individuals the opportunity to secure better-paying jobs and improve their quality of life. However, for low-income individuals, accessing the education they need to break free from the cycle of poverty can be an overwhelming challenge. The financial barriers they face are often insurmountable, making it difficult to obtain the skills and qualifications necessary for better-paying jobs.

One of our clients currently works as a home health aide, but wanted to get certified as a State Tested Nursing Aide (STNA) because it would offer her more stable and better paying job opportunities. Paying for STNA classes, however, was an obstacle for her. Through our Client Personal Development Program, CRS was able to help her with the cost of the classes. She just called to thank us for our financial support, and to let us know she received an A on her STNA test!

CRS is able to assist our neighbors in need only thanks to the tremendous support that we receive from so many people. As we look ahead to the future, we are more committed than ever to our vision of a community where poverty does not exist, and all individuals have the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their economic circumstances.

It was a rainy night for SOUPer Bowl XIII but that didn't dampen the spirits of everyone that came to the Avon vs. Avon Lake football game! Congratulations to Avon for winning this year’s SOUPer Bowl, although the real winner is CRS and the families served in Avon and Avon Lake who are struggling with food insecurity.

The generosity from the two communities was incredible! Together they collected $18,301 in monetary donations and 7,828 pounds of food. Since its inception in 2010, the SOUPer Bowl Food Drive has raised a total of 84,360 pounds of food and $169,406 in monetary donations!

Thank you to everyone that supported the SOUPer Bowl XIII! We are so grateful!

The family-owned Meijer company is continuing their commitment to hunger relief efforts through the Holiday Simply Give Campaign! CRS is so grateful to partner with the Avon Meijer store for this campaign that runs through Saturday, December 30, 2023. During the campaign, Meijer will invite their customers to purchase $10 Simply Give donation cards that can be found at each register. Through these donations, CRS will receive Meijer gift cards that we will use to purchase items to help keep our pantry well stocked. Thank you in advance for your support of this incredible initiative to help fight hunger in our own community!
