Avon/Avon Lake Community Resource Services Newsletter
September, 2020

CRS has truly been blessed with many donations of non-perishable items for our food pantry.

Thank you to the following businesses and organizations:

Avon Lake High School Athletic Boosters, Avon Lake Garden Club, Avon Lake Kiwanis, Avon Lake Public Library, Holy Spirit Church, Knights of Columbus, Learwood Middle School 7th Grade Volleyball, New Westsiders, North Coast Rotary Club, and Randall's Team Shop Custom Engraving.
We are so very grateful for all of the donations! Thank you for making a difference, right here at home!

Back-to-School Readiness Program
CRS has a fantastic Back-to-School Readiness Program that ensures students return to school with the supplies they need to help them have a successful school year.  So far we have distributed backpacks and school supplies to 183 school children in Avon and Avon Lake.  They also received a gift card to Old Navy to purchase school clothing and a gift card to Walmart to purchase additional school related items. Special thanks to North Coast Rotary Club for collecting school supplies for us!

The Charity Ball committee has begun the planning for a truly special virtual event. While we will miss gathering with you in person to celebrate CRS and all of the good things we do in our community, we need to make the health and safety of our guests, staff and volunteers our top priority.  So mark your calendar for Saturday, January 30, 2021 and watch for exciting details to follow!

If you are interested in joining the volunteer Charity Ball committee please contact Sheila Roth at sroth@aalcrs.org

Meijer Simply Give Campaign
Dates Extended!

Meijer will once again be inviting their customers to join a combined effort to fight hunger by purchasing the $10 Simply Give donation cards through in-store displays located at each check-out register.  The campaign began on Sunday, August 23, 2020 and has been extended to Saturday, October 24, 2020.

Meijer's 2019 Simply Give Campaign resulted in a donation to CRS of $5,070 in food only gift cards that we used to purchase items for our food pantry! Meijer is a family company focused on enriching the lives in the communities they serve, especially during these challenging times. We are grateful for the support that we receive!
Junior Girl Scout Troop #50214
These great kids wanted to do something to give back to people in their community that might have been affected by the pandemic.  Together they decided to give some of their cookie sale profits to CRS! Thank you to Paige, Penelope, Drew, Keeley, Addy, Madeline, Maggie, Marley, Kennedy and Colbie for having such generous hearts! Your kindness will go a long way in helping those in need!

Our food pantry exists thanks to so many who generously donate.  We currently are in need of cleaning supplies, especially all-purpose cleaners. laundry detergent and Clorox wipes.

Thank you for your generous support in helping to keep our pantry stocked!
