The SOUPer Bowl Food Drive is a friendly competition between community members in Avon and Avon Lake to see who can collect the most food by weight. All food collected will benefit families through our onsite food pantry. We will also be accepting cash donations. Each $1 contributed will be counted as 5 pounds of food.

The winner of the food drive competition will be announced at half time of the Avon vs. Avon Lake varsity football game on Friday, September 9th and will be presented with the SOUPer Bowl Trophy. Since its inception in 2010, the SOUPer Bowl has collected 69,509 pounds of food and $134,021 in monetary donations.

Food donations can be dropped off at all schools in Avon and Avon Lake or you can bring your donations to the game on September 9th. Visit www.aalcrs.org for more information. Please email Sheila if you have any questions.
Making a Difference, Right Here at Home. School supplies can be very expensive so our Back to School Readiness Program is designed to provide some relief for our families. Each student received a backpack full of school supplies, a gift card to Old Navy and a gift card to Walmart for other miscellaneous expenses.

We recently received this email from one of our parents, “Today I took advantage of tax free weekend and used the Old Navy gift cards you gave for us to buy much needed uniforms (my daughter hit a growth spurt and nothing fit!) Not only was there a sale on the uniform items I purchased, I earned $40 Old Navy cash AND 20% off my next purchase so I am able to cushion their wardrobe with a few extra items! It was such a relief to be able to get what we needed and not have to worry. I appreciate the services you provide and thank you for all you have done to help our family in this stage of our lives.”

It was a great night at our annual Homeruns for Hunger event at the Lake Erie Crushers game on August 4th. There were lots of fans there in support of CRS and we received a donation from The Crushers of $534 representing a portion of each ticket that we sold! Special thanks to the CRS board members that sold 50/50 raffle tickets during the game. The raffle made $694 for CRS!

NUTRITIONAL FOOD DONATIONS

Our food pantry exists thanks to so many who generously donate. We currently are in need of cereal, canned chicken, peanut butter and canned fruit. We do not need any canned vegetables or beans right now.

Thank you for your generous support to help us keep our pantry stocked!
