June Volunteer Opportunities

Employees may use up to 16 hours of scheduled work time per year to support their favorite causes and institutions as volunteers. Those interested in volunteering may 1) volunteer individually, 2) seek assistance from the Office of Community and Government Relations (OCGR) to arrange a departmental volunteer effort, or 3) participate in one of the school-wide monthly volunteer activities organized by OCGR. UMass Chan Awards Teacher MiniGrants

UMass Chan’s North Quadrant Support Services (NQSS) Advisory Committee recently awarded more than $36,000 to fund 29 initiatives submitted by teachers and staff at schools in Worcester’s North Quadrant.

The classroom enrichment mini grants are available to teachers and staff at any of the North Quadrant schools as part of the NQSS initiative. In all, 46 proposals were submitted to funds initiatives for which city or school funding is not available. Funded proposals included several field trips, robotics equipment for an after school club, expansion of the North High community garden and purchase of diverse books and learning materials. The mini-grant program is funded by the generosity of UMass Chan Medical School employees through the UMass Chan Cares annual giving campaign.
