To our CCFM Family

Some of you may have already learned that COVID-19 antibody testing is now available. This blood test looks for IgG antibodies against the SARS CoV-2 virus (COVID-19 virus). These antibodies usually give a person protection from a future infection. However, with COVID-19, having these antibodies may not protect from a recurrent infection, based on patient cases in China, where a patient had antibodies from a prior exposure yet became ill with COVID-19 a second time.
My office has Quest antibody testing available and is medically indicated for patients with a past history of positive COVID-19 DNA testing from a nasopharyngeal swab, presumed COVID-19 positive infection based on clinical presentation of symptoms, and/or close contacts of COVID-19 patients.
Has COVID-19 Sheltering In Place Disrupted Your Healthy Eating Habits?
Many of us have been sheltering in place since early to mid-March.  Have you been trying to find healthy ways to avoid getting infected by the Coronavirus?  Eating healthy foods has been very challenging especially when we are looking to comfort ourselves.  We chuckle when we hear jokes like, "If you're worried about gaining weight during the COVID-19 pandemic, wear your bathing suit around the house instead of your comfy PJs."
Truth is, we could all use helpful, easy, affordable nutrition tips from a knowledgeable source, in a supportive group environment, and get gentle yet effective regular accountability to reach our health goals. In combination with the Dominguez-Roth Foundation, one of my patients, Laura Maldonado, is offering an online nutrition support group. Laura is a Certified Nutritionist and consultant who has served as the chairperson of the Orange County National Celiac Association and created her own personal nutrition business. Laura has a passion for combining nutrition, a love for healthy cooking, and a burning desire to help people every day.
You Are Invited To Join Laura for 6-Weekly Zoom Drop-in Nutrition Support Classes
These classes will:
  • Provide easy tips to immediately improve and support a healthy immune system
  • Simple steps to lose those extra sheltering in place pounds
  • Specific strategies to overcome current challenges
  • Offer additional personal one-on-one consultation with Laura (CCFM patients receive $25 off her usual $75 initial consultation)
Classes are limited to 10 participants, contact Laura to reserve your place
  • May 6th - June 20th
  • 10:00am - 10:45am
Laura will be using the Zoom platform, contact her to reserve your place and receive login information.

Dominguez-Roth Foundation
One of my former patients, before she passed away from advanced ovarian cancer, asked if I would create a non profit corporation with her. She wanted her legacy to:
1. Provide community education about the importance of integrative medicine
2. Help provide funding for integrative medical research and development
3. Provide financial assistance to patients who want to take an integrative medical approach to their care, but cannot afford it

I am honored to carry her torch and help fulfill her legacy.
