February 15, 2013
Dear Copper Ridge Parents and Community,

On February 12th, the Scottsdale Unified School District's Governing Board, upon recommendation by Superintendent, Dr. David Peterson, approved my appointment as Principal of Copper Ridge School.  I would like to express my sheer gratitude to our parents, students, and staff who have supported and collaborated with our administrative team this school year to lead our community toward a safe, yet welcoming learning environment.  As one stakeholder expressed, "This is not only a win for Mrs. Otstot, but a win for our school community!"

As Copper Ridge School Principal, I look forward to providing instructional leadership to our teachers, promoting curriculuar best practices, and guiding our students down the path of academic and behavioral success.  We still have many exciting events yet to come this school year.  Our teamwork will provide memories that will last a lifetime for our children.

Let's keep the momentum going.  Way to go Trailblazers!

Sincerely,

Michelle Otstot, Principal
Patty DeFeyter, Elementary Assistant Principal
Matthew Patzlaff, MS Assistant Principal

 NEWS FROM STUDENT GOVERNMENT

We have been very busy lately in Student Government.  From selling valentines, helping with field day, and the Science tech fair we have all had our hands full.  We have had amazing sales with our Valentine's Day grams and we delivered them on Valentine's Day and everyone really enjoyed them.  Field Day is coming up and so we all can't wait to spend the day with the younger Copper Ridge students.

On February 20th, Copper Ridge's Robotics team will proudly be showcasing their robotics display at Chaparral High School.  From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the students will demonstrate robots following commands and demos of specialty robots.  This is part of the Science Tech Fair and Copper Ridge will present with other schools in the Scottsdale School District.

Featured Copper Ridge Student
Cavender

The Feature film Speak No Evil is in production here in the Phoenix Valley.

Candace Rose, a producer on the project, told us that principle photography is now completed and the film is now in post-production.

The movie stars Gabrielle Stone, daughter of the scream Queen Dee Wallace (ET, Cojo, and The Howling). But most of the actors came from here in the Phoenix Valley. Three of which are some local girls and Copper Ridge Students Annalise, Olivia and Elisabeth Cavender.

The director of the film, Roze says, "This is not my first time working with the Cavender girls and they blow me away with their talent every time."

We will keep you updated with the film's  release status.

If you have a student that you would like to have featured please email nhawkins@susd.org
