Elementary Art

Students in Grades K-5 will be working on many exciting projects this year! Through a variety of materials, students learn to develop, express, and evaluate ideas as well as produce and interpret visual images in our visually-oriented world.  Most of the projects they create will be kept for the Art Festival happening in the spring.  Please be sure your child is dressed in a darker colors on the day they have Art as accidents can and do occur. If you have any questions please call Mrs. Pierre-Bez at ext. 2615.

Nurse's Update

Welcome back everyone!  Let's make this year a safe one by remembering to bring in any medications that your child might need.  As a reminder, the SUSD policy requires the disposal of all medications that are not picked up at the end of each school year.   Therefore, we need parents to bring in Epi pens and Benadryl if their child has an allergy that requires the use of such medications.

Copper Ridge National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) students have already been busy volunteering their time to help our wonderful PTO! Thirty members of NJHS participated in various activities during the Back To School event on Tues. Aug. 6th. Some of these students gave tours of our campus to families who are new to Copper Ridge, while others helped distribute school supply packages, assisted families with identifying bus routes, and directed traffic around campus. Additionally, other NJHS members helped prepare the CRS Way booklets that were distributed to the elementary students during the first week of school. Our NJHS group this year is very eager to get going on a fall service project and our first regular NJHS meeting of the year is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 27th from 3:15 - 4:00 p.m..

Please make sure your family has sent in your tax deductible donation to the Copper Ridge PTO.  You can join online!  www.crpto.com
All money brought in through our membership drive stays at Copper Ridge and goes directly to our students.  We are hoping to purchase security camera this year for Copper Ridge.  Any funding that you can contribute will help!

Upcoming dates:
8/27 11:00am Book Fair Kick Off Meeting Room 608 - all parents are invited to attend!

Copper Ridge School is bustling with the excitement of a new school year. Our inquisitive students are off and running with learning wonderful new concepts. What will your child learn during the 2013-2014 school year you might ask?  You may easily view curriculum standards through the use of our District "Backpack".

Student ID Cards

Elementary Student IDs

Elementary students (K-5) will not be required to wear their IDs on their person, however they will be required to attach the ID to their backpack. Please check your child's backpack to assure the ID is attached securely.

Middle School IDs

Middle school students will be required to wear their student ID cards so that they are clearly visible at all times during the regular school day.  Middle school students will be required to scan their student ID cards in order to purchase food on their lunch accounts and check out library books.

Being able to visually identify our Copper Ridge students will help to distinguish them from others that do not belong on our campus.  In addition, it is our hope that the wearing of student IDs may also bring our school community closer together.

We ask that you help our efforts to increase school safety through supporting the wearing of student IDs.

B.Y.O.T

Copper Ridge is in our second year of BYOT (Bring Your Own Technology) and we are constantly learning new ways to use mobile devices in the classroom. To get started, we do need to have the
Responsible Use Agreements on file. These agreements acknowledge the responsibilities each student has to be a conscientious digital citizen. Please be sure to discuss with your child how to be safe online, and to remember that bullying online is just as unacceptable as bullying in person. When we set guidelines for the responsible use of mobile devices, we can focus on using them as educational tools to research information, solve complex problems, create original products, or publish work.

Top 10 CRS Safety Tips!

1. Drop your child off between 8:20 and 8:30 a.m..  This is our slowest traffic time!

2. Ride the bus!

3. Always use sidewalks to and from our campus. Walking through traffic is not safe.

4. Refrain from making U-turns in our parent pick-up lane.

5. Make arrangements with your child/ren to meet at a designated area outside our campus gates after school.

6. Drop-off and pick up is designated on the back side of our campus.  Pick-up and drop-off is not permitted in our front parking lots.

7. Supervision begins on our campus at 8:20 a.m.

8. Please hold your young child's hand when walking to and from our campus.

9.  Take care of our teachers on duty- they are there to ensure your child's safety!

10. Take all valuable belongings with you when leaving your car in the parking lot.

Thank you!

Copper Ridge Athletics

Copper Ridge is looking forward to another great year with athletics!  Did you know that 6th graders can participate this year?

Currently, Girls Volleyball and Boys Baseball are the two sports being offered this season.  Both teams have been practicing for a week with a great turn-out.  If you missed the first season, the next season is Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Boys Basketball, and Girls Softball.

1) A current physical conducted on or

    after March 1, 2013

2) An Athletic Code of Conduct (signed

     by student and parent)

3) Two (2) consent/insurance cards

4) A $60 athletic fee (checks should be

written out to Copper Ridge School)

    or cash is accepted
