Germany takes third place in Times Higher Education's "World Reputation Rankings 2016"

Germany holds on to 3rd place in the newest edition of British magazine Times Higher Education’s "World Reputation Rankings" after 10,323 scientists from 133 countries cast their vote on which 100 universities have the best reputation in research and teaching. The list is traditionally dominated by the U.S. in first place with 43 universities making the cut, followed by the U.K. with 10 universities. Germany comes in 3rd place, maintaining its position from last year, with 6 universities featured in the top 100.

According to Phil Baty, editor of the THE rankings, competition from Asia has strongly influenced the outcome this year, contributing 18 universities to the top 100—8 more than last year. In particular universities from China, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea have rapidly gained ground. The entire ranking can be found here.
