Peter Kerrigan of DAAD North America Receives EAIE Transatlantic Leadership Award

DAAD is proud to announce that our Deputy Director and Marketing Director, Peter Kerrigan, has been awarded the Transatlantic Leadership Award by the European Association for International Education (EAIE). This award acknowledges his significant leadership in educational exchange between Europe and the United States. He is also the first American to Chair the EAIE Professional Development Committee.

At DAAD, Peter is responsible for promoting exchanges and mobility at all levels between North America and Germany. Peter has helped increase numbers in both directions, linking American and European universities like few others. We thank Peter for his outstanding work and deeply appreciate him as a colleague of DAAD North America.

16th Annual GAIN Conference Comes to DC September 9-11

Hot-button issues in German scientific policy like the Excellence Initiative and the new tenure track program will be discussed at the 16th annual GAIN Conference, where German researchers working in the U.S. and Canada will convene on September 9-11 in Washington, D.C. This conference, the largest of its kind outside of Europe, is a forum for postdocs, researchers and assistant professors from all fields who are interested in a career and funding opportunities at German universities, research institutions or in the private business sector.

The opening day of the three day conference is open to international doctoral and postdoctoral students, as well as assistant professors seeking information on transatlantic careers and collaborations. A special workshop on funding opportunities in Germany for international researchers interested in transatlantic careers and partnerships will be offered on September 9th from 9-10am. The conference also hosts a career fair on the same day with over 70 German universities, research institutions, and funding agencies.

GAIN is a joint initiative of DAAD, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (AvH), the German Research Foundation (DFG) and associated members, with support by the Federal Ministry of Research and Education (BMBF). For more information, please visit: www.gain-network.org/rig.
