Our 2024 Online Conference

is This Saturday!

We're sending the September newsletter a little early this month to make sure you have a chance to register for our 2024 conference, which takes place ONLINE on Aug. 24. If you're a licensed professional (nurses, psychologists, social workers and more), there are six CE credit hours available.

And speaking of conferences, we're still brainstorming on our 2025 LIVE event, and we appreciate your replies to our survey last month!

There are a lot of moving parts when it comes to planning a live conference. We've thrown out the cruise idea, and are now looking at either having it at a resort in Mexico or somewhere in Arizona on the weekend of Dia de Los Muertos next year.

We'll keep you posted!

Maui Wildfire Survivors Process Their Grief

"Horses are incredible healers,” said DePonte, who started the program on her family’s cattle ranch in 2021 after observing the transformational effect the animals had on her own trauma recovery. “They are in a place of coherence all the time, not thinking about tomorrow, not thinking about yesterday." Take Me Out Feet First:

A Documentary About Medical Aid in Dying

The terminally ill advocates featured in this series are some of the bravest and most altruistic people I have ever met,” said Kim Callinan, president/CEO of Compassion & Choices, featured in episode 6. “Some urged lawmakers to pass medical aid-in-dying bills despite knowing they would likely die before they became law. Others helped us defend medical aid-in-dying laws from lawsuits seeking to overturn these laws. We owe them and Serene our ever-lasting gratitude for their passionate advocacy on behalf of other terminally ill Americans who desperately need this option."

Pagan Pioneers

The contemporary pagan community, unlike many traditional religions, has had direct access to its living founders for decades. Now many of those pioneers, born in the 1940s, are “crossing the veil,” a common pagan phrase. And their stories may be going with them as interest in their legacy wanes among younger generations in a changing world READ MORE...

Spiritual Directors

National Grief Awareness Day August 30th

In honor of National Grief Awareness Day on August 30th, Dr. Jessica Thomas will kick off a series of talks on grief as it relates to her research and new book. This first talk will explore anticipatory grief through the lens of mindful photography and self reflection. While mindful photography is not therapy, it is a therapeutic tool that can be used in therapy or as an independent practice; it’s a way of seeing through a new lens, understanding, and connecting with the world and oneself.
