As many of you know, this newsletter began circulating in 2010 to promote our first conference, known at the time as The Afterlife Conference. We've come a long way since then (if you don't know our history, you can read about it HERE). Many of our subscribers have been with us since the beginning, and have evolved alongside us as we've explored different avenues of interest.

We've been in conversation with some potential partners about the possibility of reviving the original Afterlife Conference, and would love to hear your thoughts about it. Haven for Mediums and Spiritualists

Re-Opens in Lilydale

Virtual Memorial Research Study

If you have a terminally-ill loved one and would like to to participate in a study (and receive some guidance) related to creating a virtual memorial, this is an invitation to participate in research on anticipating a loss. This project seeks to support those that want to plan and create a virtual memorial consisting of shared memories such as photographs, stories, recordings, art, written work, etc. Participants will receive a $500 donation toward medical expenses.

What is Spirtual Bypassing?

Here's a sneak peek at one of the presentations from our Conference on Death, Grief and Belief, which took place earlier this month. Craig Cashwell PhD has done extraordinary research on a common response to loss known as "spiritual bypassing," defined as a “tendency to use spiritual ideas and practices to sidestep or avoid facing unresolved emotional issues, psychological wounds, and unfinished developmental tasks.” In addition to what Craig shares in this video, you can learn more about spiritual bypassing in this article.

Presenters Wanted for Our Winter Symposium

In addition to the The Conference on Death, Grief and Belief that we produce each summer, we also offer a professional symposium every January (online), and we're looking for presenters for 2024. To give you an idea of the symposium content, HERE is a link to our most recent event.

Our 2024 theme will be "Mystical Experiences of the Dying and the Bereaved," and we're looking for presenters who can support their content with academic research and/or first-hand clinical experience. If you would like to be considered as a speaker, please fill out THIS FORM, and note these requirements:

In-Depth Grief Workshop

Portland, OR. Sept. 23

In conjunction with AccentCare Hospice in Portland, Oregon, the public is invited to a FREE day-long workshop facilitated by Dr. Terri Daniel.

These workshops are offered quarterly, free of charge to the community to help individuals and families manage the difficult journey of loss and bereavement. These workshops teach unique coping skills and healing tools not typically found in traditional counseling or support group settings, including group work, art therapy processes, family dynamic mapping, sacred ceremony and more. The September workshop is Saturday Sept. 23, from 10 am – 5 pm.
