NECA 430-2016 "Standard for Installing and Maintaining Medium-Voltage Switchgear" Publication
This standard describes site preparation and installation of new medium-voltage switchgear and maintenance procedures for existing medium-voltage switchgear nominally rated up to a maximum operating voltage of 38 kV AC.

NECA 430-2016 has been meticulously revised from the 2006 edition to align with the latest editions of associated product standards and the National Electrical Code. Another valuable feature of NECA 430 is that it compliments NECA 600 Standard for Installing and Maintaining Medium Voltage (MV) Cable. MV cable is typically installed in and terminated in medium voltage switchgear. Applying both of these NEIS workmanship standards (NECA 430 and NECA 600) to medium voltage system installation ensures that not only minimum safety and equipment standards are met, but quality and performance aspects of the installation are evident. This is increasingly important criteria expected by architects, engineers and especially owners.

Please click on the links below for IMSCA's Summer issue, "SubStance," as well as the late July Legislative update.    In the issue of "SubStance," you will find a message from IMSCA President Giuseppe Muzzupappa, Northeastern Illinois Chapter, NECA.  IMSCA General Counsel Jim Rohlfing provides a detailed analysis on pending legislation seeking to hold general contractors liable for the payment of wages to employees of a subcontractor even when the general contractor has paid the subcontractor in full (HB 2838).  Also included in this issue is important information on Illinois' new recreational cannabis law that employers should be aware of.  We hope you find this issue useful and informative.  Please feel free to forward this message to your friends and colleagues.
