ECA is pleased to announce the launch of a "Diversity & Inclusive Training Program" designed to help Electrical Contractor’s foster a climate of inclusion, sensitivity, and respect in the workplace.
Alex Willis, President of Leadership Surge, has designed a training program that will help business leaders create a culture of inclusiveness and respect within their company. Join us on January 13, 2021, as ECA’s Diversity Committee, and Alex Willis, introduce this new training series for ECA members and their employees.
As the CEO of Leadership Surge, Alex provides a leadership development program that trains employees in the trade industry to become frontline leaders, helping push companies forward through future challenges. Leadership Surge values people over process and focuses on a holistic, strengths-based approach to leadership. After identifying a need for frontline leadership in the trade industry, he has spent the last 15 years working with companies to improve leadership culture. Alex has worked directly with more than 1,200 foreman leaders, helping them improve in areas such as: effective communication, performance coaching, work-life balance, stress management, generational leadership, critical thinking and time management. Alex understands the trade industry’s underlying challenges in profitability, performance, labor and productivity and how it has the potential to derail growth.
The ECA Research and Education Committee is pleased to announce that its Education Schedule for 2021 is nearly complete. It is anticipated that the First Quarter offerings will be held in a VIRTUAL format.

As we begin the new year, please click on the link to review the upcoming meeting dates for ECA Membership meetings / NECA national meetings.
The Chicago Building Conference (CBC) has opened up their Merit Awards application process for 2021 for both CBC members and non-CBC members. The CBC 2021 Merit Awards competition recognizes the most outstanding construction projects from the past three years in the Chicagoland area. Entry deadline is January 21, 2021. Project Details deadline is February 9, 2021 (projects must have been completed by December 31, 2020.
As a reminder, the Construction Industry Service Corporation (CISCO) has begun to accept applications for its long-standing Annual Scholarship Awards Program. Applications for for this program are available by clicking on one of the three types of scholarship awards below.
The Electric Association scholarship is awarded annually to a lineal descendant of an EA member, and is based on academic and personal achievements. Preference may be given to a student enrolling in a degree program that will lead to a career in the electrical industry. All ECA member firms are EA members.
It is anticipated that the following Chicagoland Electric Association Education Foundation (CEAEF) Scholarships (below) are to open soon for application for the 2021 Academic Year:
Electric Association Scholarship ($2500)
The Kinander Family Scholarship ($2500)
The Steiner Kerman Education Foundation Scholarship ($2500)
The Joseph J. Archibald Jr. Memorial Scholarship ($2500)

Procore is a NECA Premier Partner
NECA has entered into a three-year agreement with Procore, a leading provider of construction management software, to join NECA’s Premier Partner program, effective January 1, 2021. This industry-leading program connects NECA members to the leading companies in the electrical construction industry.
As a reminder, the Chicago & Cook County Chapter, NECA’s Student Committee will again sponsor the NECA-IIT Student Chapter in their efforts with the new ELECTRI Student Chapter Competition. The students are to design a new Residence Hall.
The students will need some help from the ECA membership in regard to a requirement for BIM and Estimating training for the students. Please contact the ECA office at: (708) 531-022 to let us know of your availability (or someone from your company) that could assist in the supplemental training. The students will also have opportunities to participate with a number of webinars sponsored by NECA / ELECTRI in the coming months, as well.
