WATER TREATMENT
RO Safety Shut Off Values
Point of use Reverse Osmosis water treatment systems are gaining popularity because they can deliver high purity water from a single tap at pennies a glass. The unit is usually located under the kitchen sink and is comprised of a series of filters, a membrane and small pressure tank.
There are manymanufacturers of these devices, most of them offshore and quality control can be an issue. Hoses and fittings could leak resulting in expensive damage to cabinets and floors.
For that reason, we have introduced a new safety shutoff valve that will shut off the water supply to the RO if it detects water on floor of the cabinet. The valve is inexpensive and easy to install and could save you from expensive repairs. Ask our staff to quote you on installing one.

ASK AN EXPERT
Control Box
I have been told my pump has a control box. What does it do?
A control box is a starting device for a submersible pump. This device works in conjunction with the pressure switch to start the water pump.
|
When the pressure switch is activated because the pressure tank needs water, the contacts on the switch engage and send power to the control box. Inside the control box is a relay and starting capacitor. The relay directs power to the capacitor which charges up energy and at the right moment releases the power to the motor to start it turning. Once the motor is up to speed the relay switches the motor from starting winding to running winding and the pump fills the pressure tank until the pressure is high enough to disengage the contacts in the switch thus cutting power to the pump and the system shuts off until the next time water is called for. Only three wire, single phase motors have a control box.
Occasionally the control box will fail and need to be replaced like the pressure switch but this is usually a symptom of some underlying issue.
