Fall 2021
Program Status Update
During the pandemic, ESLIM's member programs have implemented changes to maintain health and safety. Last fall, 536 students and 188 volunteers in 11 programs joined together for online learning. Online classes continued this past winter and spring. This fall, students have 14 options for classes, including opportunities seven days of the week. Some programs meet online, while others take place in person. Class times are in the morning or evening. We look forward to offering even more opportunities in 2022!
Welcome to Immanuel Bible Church

ESLIM is pleased to announce that Immanuel Bible Church in Springfield is our newest member program. Immanuel has provided English classes to the community for more than 20 years. Currently, Immanuel offers classes three days a week, with morning and evening sessions.
Teaching Tips
During a recent meeting of the board of directors, ESLIM's leadership shared advice for volunteer teachers.

  • Have fun.
  • You will change lives through this program.
  • Tailor the class material to student interests and needs.
  • Be patient with the students and with yourself as you communicate.
  • Keep it simple. Let your students speak. They need the practice - not you.
  • The most important element is promoting a welcoming space as a metaphor for our community and country.
  • Talk more slowly, and ask questions to be sure they comprehend.
  • You've got this!
Thank you to our students, volunteers, coordinators, donors, member churches, and staff!
