IRFInternational Road Federation Delivers Applied Knowledge
at Intertraffic Istanbul

Road agencies across the world are quickening the pace of adoption of intelligent transport systems as an integral part of national transport infrastructure strategies.

This was one of the key findings of a series of four workshops organized by the International Road Federation (IRF) in partnership with Intertraffic Istanbul on May 24-25, 2017. These workshops also served to introduce some of the courses taught by the IRF as part of its continuing education programs.

Dr. Bill Sowell, Vice President - Business Development at Eberle Design Inc. and Reno A&E, presented an executive overview of the latest developments in connected and cooperative vehicles, vehicle-to-infrastructure and vehicle-to-vehicle communications, and the rise of disruptive technologies in transportation. Dr. Sowell also serves as Chair of the IRF Subcommittee on ITS Education .

"The rapid pace and ubiquity of ITS deployments require, more than ever, that policy makers, senior project managers, engineers and other technical professionals involved in the process be equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to leverage the full potential of these new applications," said Dr. Sowell.

PLAReno A&E Introduces the PLA Series of Prefabricated Saw-Cut Loops
for Access Control Applications

Reno A&E (RAE) is pleased to introduce the PLA Series of Prefabricated Saw-Cut Loops for access control applications. The ultra-lightweight PLA Series loops are extremely flexible even in cold temperature environments and are designed with Cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE) insulation. The loops can be installed in 1/8 inch wide (0.32 cm) saw cuts or larger and eliminate the need to cut 45-degree relief corners which provides a longer life cycle of the roadway surface. This series of loops also incorporate a tinned 20 AWG, 4-conductor, stranded copper wire for corrosion resistance.

The PLA Series of Prefabricated Saw-Cut Loops is the newest addition to RAE's product suite of prefabricated loops for saw-cut and direct burial applications. The PLB Series, a saw-cut and direct burial type, is designed for concrete, paver applications or asphalt applications with a sand or dirt barrier. The PLH Series, a direct burial type, is designed for cement or hot asphalt roadway applications. Properly installed, the PLA loops are guaranteed for 10 years.

For more information on RAE's new PLA Series of Prefabricated Saw-Cut Loops for Access Control Applications, contact Carl Zabel at [email protected] or telephone +1.775.870.4499.

RecertAre Your Signal Monitors Compliant?

The Eberle Design Inc. (EDI) and Reno A&E (RAE) Signal Monitor Recertification and Repair Program helps ensure safe operation of traffic signals, reduces maintenance, and costs.

Signal Monitor Recertification MMUs, CMUs, and Conflict Monitors are mission critical electronics subjected to continuous operation in harsh environments. The equipment is exposed to a constant onslaught of heat, cold, moisture, insects, power surges, and other unforgiving conditions.

EDI and RAE Signal Monitors are designed for those challenging environments. Performing factory recertification, following strict ISO9001 manufacturing test procedures, provides documented verification that your signal monitors meet the specified requirements with proper operation. The recertification program helps establish effective and proactive maintenance strategies in today's litigious world. The program has been developed to help agencies quickly, easily, and cost effectively, perform this necessary testing and certification task.
