ECC Explorers visit Raleigh

Edgecombe Community College president, Dr. Greg McLeod, served as chaperone and tour guide for eight ECC students during a recent day trip to Raleigh. Students departed from the Tarboro campus at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, March 7, which coincided with spring break. The trip, sponsored by the Cannon Foundation, included a tour of NC State University, the NC Legislative building, downtown Raleigh and the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. Students traveled together in the college van, driven by McLeod.

Celebrating ECC’s SkillsUSA winners

Edgecombe Community College students excelled at the recent SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference held in Greensboro, N.C. April 9-11 that annually attracts 3,000 students. At 55 students, its largest number of participants ever, the SkillsECC team took home 17 awards across a number of trade, technical and skilled service fields.


The public is invited to a celebration of these award winners happening Wednesday, April 30 from 3pm to 5pm in the multipurpose room of the Barnhill-Jenkins Center for Innovation.

Donors recognized at ECC Foundation event

Donors were honored during the Edgecombe Community College Foundation’s SpringTide event. The annual celebration recognizes individuals who have contributed $250 or more in the past year to the ECC Foundation in support of students. Jean Bailey, president of the ECC Foundation Board of Directors; Dr. Greg McLeod, ECC president; and Tameka Kenan-Norman, executive director of the Foundation, spoke to the nearly 40 guests who gathered at the Blount-Bridgers House/Hobson Pittman Memorial Gallery in downtown Tarboro.
