Edgecombe Community College’s SkillsUSA competitors won a gold medal and two silver medals after participating in the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference held June 23-27 in Atlanta, Ga. In its 60th year, the conference is a showcase of career and technical education students.

“Congratulations on coming to the end of this journey—your high school years,” said Edgecombe Community College President, Dr. Greg McLeod, to a group of high school students planning to attend Edgecombe Community College in the fall. “Know that we have your back. We want you to reflect on your time at ECC as one of the most wonderful times of your life.”

For Courtney Baggett, opening the door to new possibilities wasn’t easy, but it was rewarding. Baggett, a counselor at Edgecombe Community College, recently completed the NC Community College Leadership Program. According to the NC State University website, the program allows participants to “develop and enhance essential skills to support their current and future leadership roles in the NC Community College System.” The Martin County native graduated from the program May 16.

Edgecombe Community College is the recipient of a $5,000 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Outreach grant provided by the STEMEast Network. The grant will cover tuition for students enrolled in ECC’s camps, including STEM-Elementary, STEM-Middle and Electronics camps. The funding will also assist with materials, equipment, staffing, camp shirts, snacks and more.

The Edgecombe-Martin County Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) recently presented their annual scholarship to Edgecombe Community College. The gift of $1,000 will be used to establish two $500 scholarships for students in the Electrical Systems Technology Program at ECC.

We are now accepting sponsorships and team registration forms for the 39th annual ECC Foundation Golf Tournament!
