A Note from Board Member Gary Manfre
My name is Gary Manfre, and I joined the Englewood Schools Board of Education in November 2019. I first moved to Englewood in 2002. I immediately found that same small community culture I grew up with in California, and treasured as a child and young adult. After residing in other metro cities over the next several years, in 2009, my growing family and I decided to make Englewood our permanent home. My wife and I have five children that attend Englewood Schools from Kindergarten through eighth grade. All five children began their education at the Early Childhood Education program, where my wife is currently a paraprofessional. Since 2012, I have and continue to coach youth basketball and soccer for local recreational organizations, sharing my love of sports with children and families in our community. I still enjoy playing sports myself, as well as enjoying time with my family and our variety of animals. Our family's favorite activities include biking, hiking and kayaking.

I decided to run for the Board of Education to be more involved within our diverse community. As a school board member for Englewood Public Schools, I look forward to advocating for all students, families, and staff in our district. I will support the vision and goals of this district by collaborating and engaging with our community members and leaders. I am motivated to see growth of our focused learning programs at our various schools, continuing these unique and profound opportunities. Lastly, ensuring our educators the access and support to resources needed to provide the best education for our students will be a priority of mine.

I am honored and proud to serve the community as a member of the Board of Education for Englewood School District. I hope to meet and converse with you soon.

Good News from Our Schools
Vocal Arts Gala
The Vocal Arts Gala by Choir students was a delightful evening of music, student successes, pictures with Santa, Silent Auction, wonderful "eats", and community! Thank you to our Sponsors Kolacny Music, Maes Law, and Hanna Warren for Englewood Arts, as well as our AMAZING parent & alumni team who helped provide so much for our students and event! The decades-long "Carol of the Bells" Alumni tradition continued, as alumni from the 1970s to 2019 attended as well!
Cherrelyn Holiday Bingo
Each year, Cherrelyn Elementary hosts a holiday bingo where students can win prizes. As always, staff members at Cherrelyn worked hard this year to collect toys and items so that students could pick out gifts for themselves and their loved ones. This year, many students were able to pick out a special toy for themselves. Even more students found items for their family members. Students chose toys for their little siblings, candles for mom, and even a pair of shoes for dad!
ECE Multicultural Night
Before winter break, the Englewood Early Childhood Education Center at Maddox hosted its annual multicultural night. Students and families participated in activities, made crafts, and sampled cookies from other cultures around the world. Families also got to experience a hula dancing lesson, a sing-a-long and other fun!
Bishop Elementary Grand Opening
Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate the grand opening of Bishop Elementary! Students, staff members, parents and community members enjoyed tours, refreshments and fun as they explored the beautiful new building.
