Free or Low-Cost Family Activities in March:

Charles Hay Receives Music Grants
Charles Hay World School was chosen as a $2,000 "Drive for Education" grant recipient and was honored during a special ceremony hosted at Groove Toyota on February 13. Mrs. Jayne and the CHWS choir club performed a thank you song when receiving the grant and enjoyed a pizza party at the dealership with Toyota employees. With the $2,000 awarded to the CHWS music classroom, 7 new tubano drums and 3 new xylophone bass bars were purchased.

In addition to the Groove Toyota grant, Mrs. Jayne was awarded 60 ukuleles for the classroom from a curriculum she adopted through Little Kids Rock. Thirty ukuleles will be for classroom use and the other 30 will be used as a music library where students can check out the instruments and practice at home. A special thank you to our community for their generosity and supporting music education at CHWS!
Talking with Children About School Violence
As news reports flood the media about school violence, you may be struggling with what to say to your student about these events. Also, your student may be struggling with anxiety or fear.

Englewood Schools would like to provide you with resources that can help you talk to your student and to know what to look for that could indicate your student may need some extra help dealing with his or her feelings.

Please find the resources here:

If you feel that you or your student could use some extra support, please reach out to your school's counselor or mental health professional.
