Dear Friends,

Last year, ten years after my diagnosis with epilepsy, another patient inspired me to share about it openly-I had thought I was alone. Now, wherever I go, I meet people who have epilepsy or who are closely related to someone who does.  I am touched by your stories, courage, and successes.  I have worked in the nonprofit sector for my entire career and am excited to have this opportunity to serve the epilepsy community. We can educate the public about epilepsy, decrease the fear and stigma that go along with the diagnosis, and support each other-as well as help to find a cure....and that's what we're all about here at the Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California. It's time to talk!

2013 Epilepsy Youth Summer Camp

Camper and counselor spots are still available for this year's Epilepsy Youth Summer Camp!  Camp will be held at CYO Camp in Occidental, California, from July 28th to August 2nd.  Partial and full scholarships are available.  For one week, campers aged 9-16 will be able to enjoy fun summer activities such as canoeing, swimming, arts and crafts and campfires.  Youth Summer Camp provides an enjoyable residential camping experience for children with epilepsy, develops self-esteem by promoting self-confidence and building lasting friendships, and fosters independence in a fun and safe environment away from home.

21st Annual Stroll for Epilepsy

The Northern California Epilepsy community came together on May 18th at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom to raise awareness and create a new hope for people living with epilepsy. We are glad to announce our annual stroll this year had approximately 550 participants and brought in over $87,000! These raised funds will help to maintain the wonderful programs we provide.  Thank you to all our participants, volunteers, and sponsors who made this a big success!

We encourage all people living with epilepsy to consider joining us at the stroll next year. Plan to invite your friends and family-create a team or join an existing team. This exciting event will continue to grow with the support of those living with epilepsy and their loved ones. We appreciate your continuous support over the years and look forward to seeing you at the stroll in 2014!
