Ed Cobleigh was born in New Orleans and, at a very early age, raised in Chattanooga, East Tennessee. He earned an engineering degree from Georgia Tech and a Masters in Management from USC. He was a designer for Piper Aircraft. As a USAF fighter pilot, he flew the F-104 Starfighter, the F-4 Phantom II, the A-4 Skyhawk, the Anglo-French Jaguar, and F-16 Viper aircraft. LTC Cobleigh instructed and flew with the USAF Fighter Weapons School, the US Navy Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun), the Royal Air Force Qualified Weapons Instructor Course (Jaguar), the French Air Force, and the Imperial Iranian Air Force. He logged 375 combat missions over North Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, earning two Distinguished Flying Crosses and the Air Medal.
After his flying career, Ed served as an Air Intelligence Officer working with the CIA, FBI, and MI6. His first book, War for the Hell of It: A Fighter Pilot's View of Vietnam, is an Amazon bestseller. His first novel, The Pilot: Fighter Planes and Paris, earned laudatory reviews. Ed and his wife live in the wine country of Paso Robles, CA along with his dogs and horses.
Who was the first fighter pilot? In the Spring of 1915, a French aviator and his personal mechanic invented the first fighter plane. Air warfare would never be the same again. This pilot's name is usually associated with a genteel sport, not air combat. Who was he and what did he do in WWI? Come to dinner and find out!

It is never too early to plan ahead! Back by popular demand,
Dennis Gage will be serving as our special guest host for Warbirds Wings & Wheels & Swap Meet #12, held May 9, 2020. Dennis will also be accompanied by his film crew and filming for an upcoming edition of "My Classic Car", a nationally syndicated automotive TV series, currently viewing on MAVTV and MotorTrend.
We are honored that Dennis Gage chose
Estrella Warbirds Museum to be featured in the
24th season of

Excess Equipment for Sale
Estrella Warbirds Museum deemed a 1943 Ford GTB Burma Truck with Bomb Hoist as excess equipment and is listed for sale.
Estrella Warbirds Museum already has a restored Burma Jeep, this truck is being offered as a restoration project. Vehicle is in running condition, drives and stops. Bomb hoist is complete, yet unmounted.

Asking $6,000, sold as a package and will not split the sale.
Burma Jeeps were built during World War II and utilized primarily by the Navy and Marines in the Pacific Theatre.

New Arrival At The Woodland Auto Display
Every once in a while a new vehicle will show up at the
Woodland Auto Display that not only immediately captures your attention, but also makes one's jaw drop and you find yourself saying, "Wow! That car is sweet!"
One of the latest arrivals is a 1917 modified Ford Model T, straight out of the Blackie Gejeian collection.
Blackie Gejeian (1926-2016) was an Easton, CA native, race car driver, race car builder and hot rod enthusiast. Those who knew him considered him to be an "industry legend." He was the primary organizer of Autorama, one of the largest custom car shows in North America (held annually in Fresno).
Blackie served as special Guest Host during
Warbirds Wings & Wheels 3, back in 2011. His creations spoke for themselves, he was a legend in every sense of the word. EWM member Bob Chute wrote an excellent article for the Paso Robles Magazine about his conversations with Blackie. You can
