Our new Naval Nuclear Display in Freedom Hall donated by Martin and Patty Wright was recently featured in a West Coast PGE publication! Martin's passion for nuclear power and all of its applications, particularly in the Navy, led to him create a new display at the Estrella Warbirds Museum in Paso Robles, where he has been a member for the past 25 years. It is the first collection in the impressive museum to focus on the nuclear Navy. It features models of nuclear-powered vessels from both the U.S. Navy and Russian Navy which he built himself, along with a significant portion of the memorabilia from both services he has collected over the past 15 years.
Some of the pieces are from the U.S.S. Long Beach where he served from 1982 through 1986. It took Wright nearly two-and-a-half months to put together the display, which takes up a prominent corner in the museum. Stop in and see the installation of Naval Nuclear history. Kudos Martin!

FA-18F Super Hornet Visits Estrella Warbird Museum
Everyone within sound of Paso Robles Airport could not help but hear the sounds of a screaming Super Hornet flying into and out of the Paso Robles Municipal Airport on the weekend of October 24th. Initially invited as part of a static display during the warbird games being held east of Paso Robles that weekend, it turned into an opportunity of a lifetime for one young man that grew up in the Paso Robles area.
Naval Reserve LCDR Paul Oyler, whom also teaches math at the local Flamson Middle School, got an opportunity of his lifetime to bring a taste of his military work home with him, to Paso Robles, for the weekend! Estrella Warbird Museum was honored to play host to LCDR Oyler, his "homework", his family and to all the museum guests who came out to get an up close look at one of the most recent renditions of the FA-18. LCDR Oyler was on hand Saturday afternoon answering questions and giving guest a personalized tour of the aircraft.

Estrella Warbirds Receives Proclamation from City of Atascadero
Atascadero, one of our neighboring cities, is no stranger to Estrella Warbird Museum and to many of the vehicles (and aircraft) on display at the museum. Over the past many years, we have been an active participant in local parades and celebrations, and many of our members have participated in "Fly-Overs" during Veteran's memorials and Veteran Day celebrations.
EWM Program Manager, George Marrett, and EWM Public Information Officer, Michael Levine, were honored to be special invited guests during a recent city board meeting. They were presented with a special Proclamation from the City of Atascadero to Estrella Warbird Museum for their participation in community events and for our active stand in honoring all who served this country in the military. Click on "City Hall" to see more pictures and read Proclamation
