May Dinner
Special Guest Speakers

John Morton
48 Years of Racing
and Still Going Strong!

Wednesday, May 2, 2018
No Host Bar starts at 6:00 p.m.
Dinner starts at 7.p.m.

Estrella Warbirds Museum is honored to be home to, not only to an eclectic collection of super fast military aircraft, but also to the Woodland Auto Display, an outstanding display of some screaming fast vehicles!

John Morton has been living an integral part of racing history for nearly 50 years! In 1962 John attended the Carroll Shelby School of High Performance under the tutelage of Peter Brock. Shortly after, he landed a job at Shelby America, not behind the wheel, but initially pushing broom handles. He quickly moved up to oil pan production. Knowing the right people reaps great rewards. In 1965, John got the chance to run some races on Carroll Shelby's Cobra team.

1969 through 1972 were good years for John, Peter and Datsun. If winning was not enough, John was also named 1971 California Sports Car Club's Driver of the Year as well as Datsun Race Driver of the Year. He had driven the 2000 Roadster, the 240Z and the 510 as he captured the unofficial driver's crown in the SCCA's Two-Five Challenge series two consecutive years - 1971 and 1972. Each year, he drove the BRE Datsun 510 to six victories as the greatest contributor of points to Datsun, which took the official crown both seasons.

Racing historians will note John's illustrious racing career with a myriad of notable racing teams including BRE Datsun,  Porsche, Electramotive Nisssan, Jaguar, and more at locations from Dodger Stadium to Le Mans and beyond. You can read more about John Morton's racing career  here.

Dinner is catered and open to the public ($20/person), reservations are required prior to 6 p.m., Monday prior to dinner, either On-line HERE or call 805 296-1935.

We Still Need Your Help!
Schweizer TG-3A

Your donations are being sought to help Estrella Warbirds Museum acquire a rare WWII Schweizer TG-3A Training Glider for static display.

There were only 113 produced and only four known surviving Schweizer TG-3A gliders.  We want to preserve this historical aircraft for future generations to enjoy!

Click on picture for more information.  We are still shy of our  $2,500 goal  to acquire the glider (similar to one pictured), and another $1500 for finish details. The TG-3A is partially restored (parts complete).  You can rest assure that your restoration crew will finish the job in a most excellent manner.  All financial donations made to Estrella Warbirds Museum are tax deductible as much as the law allows. To find out more information and to donate to the cause, please  Click on the glider picture above to be taken to our project donation page.  Please donate today!

What's your talent?
Customer Service?  We need your help in the gift shop.

Do you like books? Reading?  Our library is a great source of historical books and can always use another set of hands to help out during the day.

Do you like automobiles or racing history?  The Woodland Auto Display is a great place to meet people and swap stories.  Do you have a few extra hours to spend helping out?

We guarantee you will meet interesting people.  It's a great place to make life-long friends.  It's a great place to give a little back to the community in which you live.  It's a great place to be part of the fastest growing non-profit museum on the central coast.

We want to meet you.  Kindly fill out the volunteer application form. Click on the logo above for more information.
