Upcoming in September, we have a new version of the software coming, including a commonly requested feature:  Repair functionality.


Version 3.4 introduces a new feature that has been often requested by customers:  A system for tracking repairs.  This feature will allow you to assign a technician, keep notes, print estimates, take deposits, and otherwise handle repairs.


Shown below is the screen for entering or editing a repair:




A repair consists of one or more items, which can be either normal inventory items or service items, an assigned customer, a technician, and a description.  These items will all appear on the estimate if you print one.


Note that the estimate is very specifically an estimate; you can edit pricing as needed for labor items at the time of invoice.

Other Updates


There are a few other updates within version 3.4.0.


There is now an option for entirely blocking the sale of inactive items.  When set, this will prevent any item marked as inactive from being sold, returned, or traded in.


There is also an update for those of you using BRE with enterprise.  Previously, importing from BRE at the store level would default to category 0 in Enterprise mode.  This is being changed to import into a category IF the category exists in Enterprise.


Feedback 2014

 Every so often we explicitly request feature suggestions from you, our customers, to see what you are most interested in seeing make its way into the software.  While we always listen to feedback and suggestions, these surveys can be major drivers for us to see what you need and want from your point of sale.  The repair feature mentioned above was done from the results of such a survey, as was adding deposits to existing preorders, the revamped hours and wages features, and many others over the years. 


We're looking to refresh this survey, and so request that if you have anything you want to see from the point of sale, something it doesn't do that you want, something you'd like to see tweaked, send those suggestions in to support@extremepos.com.  We're happy to hear from you, and eager to continuously improve the software to meet the ever-changing needs of our customers.

Version 3.3.0 is currently available to supported users.
