Recap: Financial Planning Days

Pro bono volunteer social on Tuesday, Nov. 29, from 4-6 p.m.

We are proud that FPA MN is a top-ranking Chapter for its volunteerism.

The combined efforts of nine volunteers and three shadow volunteers allowed 20 underserved community members to receive free financial advice from a Certified Financial Planner® and be on their way to reaching financial goals.

To show our gratitude, we are holding a pro bono volunteer social on Tuesday, November 29, from 4-6 p.m. at Indeed Brewing Company and Tap Room.

Any active FPA MN member who has provided pro bono services through FPA MN or our community partners is invited to join us at this informal happy hour. Just show up - we're celebrating Minnesota's pro bono financial planning community's hard work!

AARP Foundation Tax-Aides Needed: No experience required

Apply by Nov. 21, 2022

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is looking for compassionate and friendly people to join its volunteer team. Many senior taxpayers with low or moderate incomes miss out on credits and deductions because they cannot afford a tax preparation service.

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide offers free tax-filing help to those who need it most.

No tax experience is needed to volunteer. You'll meet with taxpayers, interview them about their tax situation, do the necessary data entry, have an experienced volunteer review the return, explain the results and submit the return for e-filing.

Free training starts in December and generally runs about 40 hours - three to four hours weekly - through January. Training consists of a combination of in-person and online meetings and mentorship. A self-study option is also available for more experienced tax preparers.

AARP seeks volunteers from a variety of ages and backgrounds. Apply here by November 21 for this year's tax season, or call 1-888-227-7669.
