March chapter meeting: Racial diversity in financial planning
Tuesday, March 19, at 11:30 a.m.
Diversity makes our industry stronger. Having varying perspectives at the table opens organizations up to new ideas and approaches.

At our upcoming chapter meeting, we’ll dive into this important topic. Marilyn Mohrman-Gillis, executive director of the CFP Board Center for Financial Planning, will lead a research-based presentation on the causes attributed to the lack of racial diversity in financial planning and ways that firms and practitioners can address the disparity.

Event recaps: FPA members participate in Advocacy Day and Career Day
It may be a snowy winter here in Minnesota, but our chapter certainly isn't slowing down this season.

We hosted two annual events in the past few weeks: Advocacy Day and Career Day. Thank you to everyone who attended and made these events a success!

On February 21, FPA members joined together at the Minnesota State Capitol for Advocacy Day. Coordinated by our Professional Issues Committee, members met with lawmakers to build relationships and raise awareness for our industry and chapter.

Last week, our Career Development Committee hosted the 13th annual Career Day. A t the event, 26 students and career changers interested in financial planning interviewed for full-time positions and internships with 10 employers. Attendees also got the chance to learn about the industry from presentations and a panel discussion with financial planners.
Jason Kley, Brian Edstrom, Commissioner Steve Kelley, and Financial Planning Association Director of Advocacy Karen Nystrom.
This year's Career Day event helped students and career changers learn about the industry and our chapter.
