September chapter meeting: Tax doubleheader
It’s no longer summer and, before we know it, 2019 will soon come to a close. With year end approaching, we’re presenting a special tax-focused chapter meeting this month.

Jeff Levine of Kitces.com will lead us through two timely presentations: a guide to the new 20% pass-through deductions and a session on advanced Roth planning. You’ll gain an understanding of the 199A deduction and the rules governing Roth IRA conversions, as well as how this information can impact your client strategies.

Want to volunteer at Financial Planning Day this fall?
Following this chapter meeting, we’re hosting an optional, interactive workshop with helpful tips for volunteering your time. This training is required for first-time Twin Cities Financial Planning Day volunteers!

Learn more and register for both events. RSVP by 5 p.m. on September 13 to avoid a last-minute registration fee.

Promote financial literacy at our signature volunteer event
Saturday, November 2
Mark your calendars: The 10th annual Twin Cities Financial Planning Day is happening on Satur day, November 2, at the Wilder Center in Saint Paul.

This free event gives people the chance to meet one-on-one with financial planning professionals and attend presentations on important financial topics.

Financial Planning Day is possible thanks to FPA of MN members volunteering their time to share their expertise with the community. We would love for you to join us!

Volunteering at this event is a great opportunity to make a big impact in a single day. You can stay for the whole event or just a portion based on your schedule.

Pro Bono Spotlight: Jerry Lund

I began volunteering at Twin Cities Financial Planning Day because I wanted to assist individuals, with perhaps no other access to personal financial planning advice, with their financial questions one-on-one. I also enjoy leading presentations on estate planning. It’s interesting to hear the types of questions people have and provide answers that address their concerns about the transfer of their property and taking care of loved ones.

Financial Planning Day is a wonderful event that I support 100%. The attendees get great advice from all the CFP® volunteers, and I receive so much personal satisfaction from attendees expressing sincere gratitude for the advice and feedback I give. For many, this event allows them to finally talk through stressful financial issues with a professional.

I plan on volunteering at Financial Planning Day every year in addition to participating in other pro bono activities. I encourage other advisors to volunteer for this event, not only to provide advice to people who are very eager to receive it, but also to experience significant personal satisfaction in doing so.
