September Chapter Meeting: Narrowing the racial wealth gap; CFP® Board updates

Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 7-10 a.m.

Kamila Elliott, CFP®

Collective Wealth Partners CEO and Founder, CFP Board Chair

Once the cultural context of why disparities exist is understood, planners can help to narrow the racial wealth gap.

In the first hour of this month's meeting, Kamila Elliot, CEO and Founder of Collective Wealth Partners, discusses the research and resulting paper, "Two American Financial Plans: The Next 50 Years of the Racial Wealth Gap and What You Can Do About It." She'll explain the systemic and historical context of the racial wealth gap and provide advice about how CFP® professionals can help clients of color dramatically narrow or even eliminate the racial wealth gap for themselves.

Next, the CFP® Board will provide an update to participants.

We look forward to seeing you!

Member shoutout: Keith Loveland

This month we're celebrating a long-time member of our FPA MN community, Keith Loveland, the owner of Keith Loveland Consulting.

Keith has been an active part of our chapter for nearly 40 years, and he's volunteered on several committees, such as Professional Issues (FPA MN) and Ethics and Disciplinary (FPA). His involvement includes CFP® ethics training, assisting with FPA MN's Advocacy Day, and serving on the FPA Board of Directors and PAC.

"My participation will continue for years to come as I've made life-long friendships with financial planners, allied professionals and regulators. I enjoy being part of initiatives that raise the standards of our profession, especially initiatives that include a more robust fiduciary standard of care and ones that move us toward a focus on CFP® certificants."

"It's an honor and privilege for me to be associated with the hundreds of FPA of Minnesota members who share my passion for financial planning. Those who are forward-thinking and solutions-oriented are my kind of people."
