ASCEND Conference

Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 10-11

Don't be left behind. The countdown is on to one of the best financial conferences in the country.

Our annual ASCEND Conference is gearing up to be a memorable event. If you haven't signed up for this nationally renowned conference, why the delay?

In addition to earning up to 15 hours of CE credits, being inspired by some of the financial industry's brightest professionals, and connecting with someone that could dramatically impact your professional career, there are other reasons why you should sign up for the ASCEND Conference today.

Engage in exceptional networking: Hundreds of people in your field to talk to? You bet!

Build knowledge and seek solutions to lingering problems: With various speakers, topics, and social events, it's guaranteed that you'll learn something new and determine what needs to be done about that pressing issue.

Present ideas to others: Discussions with new and existing connections may give you the insight and fresh perspective you need.

So, what are you waiting for? Learn more and register here for October's ASCEND Conference.

The ASCEND Conference is held at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

There is also one-day only pricing for the event.

ASCEND Conference speaker spotlight: Charlotte Stallings

Oct. 10 closing keynote speaker

The pressure to deliver can stop us dead in our tracks. Internal fears can leave us second-guessing, delaying movement, overthinking, or seeking too much input or data before deciding on a course of action.

The ASCEND Conference day closes on Oct. 10 with motivating and entertaining speaker Charlotte Stallings. In her "great way to end the day" presentation, Stallings will:

  • discuss the tools for quicker decision-making, greater courage, and increased confidence;
  • show us how to develop, master, and maintain a mindset of momentum; and
  • teach us strategies for a more significant impact at work and in life.

Most importantly, you'll learn that you don't need to be perfect to succeed.

Member shoutout: Bill Wixon

This month, we're shining a celebratory light on member and volunteer Bill Wixon, president and owner of Wixon Advisors.

Wixon started working as an insurance underwriter in Boston and San Diego in his twenties, but it proved boring and isolating. After feeling unfulfilled, his career path shifted to financial services, and he opened Wixon Advisors in 1989.

Wixon served on FPA MN's public relations committee in the late 1990s and had fun answering financial questions by Pioneer Press readers. As PR Director from 2001-2002, Wixon dined and extolled the virtues of our chapter with media heavy hitters such as financial columnist Gail Marks-Jarvis, MPR journalist and author Chris Farrell, Star Tribune reporter/columnists Jennifer Bjorhus and Neal St. Anthony, and others.

"I explained how FPA MN served its members, our values, and how communities benefited from the charitable work of our members. Several of those in the media made it to some of our chapter meetings and spoke at them."

As FPA MN's Director of Partnerships, Bill Wixon's committee works with businesses aligning with the FPA and its mission. Partners enjoy a multitude of additional benefits and have access to over 700 members.

"Over the years, I've met many nice people at FPA meetings. Being a member has broadened my horizons and made me a better planner."

List of FPA MN Committees

This chapter exudes talent. If you’ve been around for a minute, you’ve seen it.

Have you considered growing your leadership skills and sharing your talents with your FPA MN community? If you’d like an opportunity to lead, please consider joining one of our 11 committees. Who knows, you may even find yourself a board member or one day being our Chapter president.

Fun fact, if you are or have been a committee director, you are eligible to be our next president-elect in 2023.

For information about the president-elect position, committees, or other available roles, please contact 2022 President-Elect Bruce Lorenz to learn more and get plugged in.

Volunteer opportunities

FPA MN is fortunate to have a fantastic group of member volunteers who generously give their time, energy, and expertise to serve on task forces and committees, plan events and provide pro bono services.

We'd love more members to join us in providing exceptional educational sessions and experiences to our FPA MN family and the surrounding community. For a list of volunteer opportunities, click here.

And to our many volunteers who make our chapter better - we wholeheartedly thank you.
