July chapter meeting: Overcoming behavioral obstacles in financial decision-making
Tuesday, July 20, from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.
|
|
|
Whether we know it or not, behavioral obstacles impact our work with clients every day. Some of these obstacles include the negative behaviors clients have developed – like becoming overwhelmed and putting off important financial decisions.
Pairing together finance and psychology, our July chapter meeting will include two hour-long presentations exploring ways to approach these common challenges.
Hour one will feature Samantha Lamas, a behavioral researcher at Morningstar, who will talk about how simple lists can overcome cognitive blind spots.
Hour two will feature Dr. Leon Zeng, CFA, PhD, and the director of behavioral research at Morningstar. Dr. Zeng will offer his insight on coaching investors through volatile times. Don’t miss either session!

This is an exclusive event for FPA MN members who joined within the last year. Hosted at the Metropolitan Ballroom & Clubroom in Golden Valley, this free event will be a fun way to meet FPA MN board members, officers and past presidents.
Starting this month, we’ll alternate between in-person and virtual casual coffee socials for the rest of the year. Join us for our first in-person coffee social in more than a year on July 28 at Peoples Organic in Edina.

Member shoutout: Nate Wenner
|
|
This month we'd like to celebrate a FPA MN member who has volunteered with our chapter for 21 years: Nate Wenner.
Nate is a principal and senior financial advisor at Wipfli Financial Advisors. Since joining our chapter, he served as FPA MN President in 2009 and Chairperson in 2010. Nate has also been a part of our Public Relations Committee for 15 years. As a committee member and director, he's helped spread the word about our chapter's events and programs to the broader community.
"It’s very gratifying for us on the Public Relations Committee to share ideas and shape the media’s and the public’s understanding of the value of financial planning. The efforts from this group benefit everyone in our financial planning membership community, and they are also very fun!"
Thank you for all your leadership, Nate, and helping promote our chapter as a trusted source on financial planning topics and programs.
