The 2017 session of the Alabama-West Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church is complete.  I want to express my deep appreciation to the clergy, the lay delegates, staff, and countless volunteers who served this week in a variety of ways. We were honored to host both the Service of Ordination and Commissioning and the luncheon for the spouses of our clergy here at First United Methodist Church of Montgomery.

I am thrilled to announce that the Reverend John Blount, Reverend Gillian Walters, Reverend Jack Allen, and I have been reappointed to serve at First United Methodist Church of Montgomery for the coming year.  I want to express my deep appreciation to them and to all of you for your support and encouragement over the past nine months as I have returned to serve among you and I look forward to the upcoming year of ministry together!

As is custom, I want to take this opportunity to share with you the appointments of former clergy, along with others who are connected to First United Methodist Church of Montgomery.  We offer our prayers for these friends of ours, and for their families, as they faithfully serve in the following places:

Did You Know?
Did you know that on November 30, 1939, the Alabama Conference of the Methodist Church met at First Methodist Church for the first time.  At this point the concrete floors in the new sanctuary were installed, but the stained glass windows were not. The windows were temporarily covered by canvas to hold in the warmth from the recently installed radiators in the aisles along the walls. New ministers were ordained in the sanctuary for the first time, and conference representatives held lively discussion about the issue of the unification of the Methodist Church.

Start each day with a daily devotional. Simply call 262-7342 to hear the Upper Room daily devotional read by volunteers from our Work Area on Prayer.
