Necrology Report

At Foothills, we have traditionally had an annual recognition and celebration of the deaths of ruling elders, teaching elders, and teaching elder spouses.  Last year we decided to move this to our November presbytery meeting in honor of All Saints.

We ask presbyters to give prayerful recognition of the life and service of those ruling elders, teaching elders, and teaching elder spouses whose lives on earth have ended.

Please notify us of any persons whose names should be included in this November necrology report.

Mosaic of Peace 2016

The Presbyterian Peacemaking Program presents the Mosaic of Peace 2016, a 12-day peacemaking conference in April 2016 in which participants will experience this remarkable and troubled region, encounter its diverse people, explore its rich history and complex current situation, and engage with those who seek its peace.
As participants in the conference, individuals will be:
  • Inspired as they hear the stories of Christian peacemakers in the Holy Land, walk in the footsteps of the Prince of Peace and encounter contemporary Palestinians and Israelis;
  • Equipped as they engage with Christian, Muslim, and Jewish leaders, experience contextual theology, and study peacemaking practices within the framework of PC(USA) policy;
  • Connected with global and local partners to take meaningful action for a just and lasting peace in the region.

Greenville Pastors Social

      With the hustle and bustle of ministry
it is often difficult for us to take the time to pause and connect with our colleagues.

We all benefit when we gather together to discuss our joys
and trials

as pastors.

In an effort  to create more of a

sense of community in our presbytery,

the

Equipping the Saints Team

would like to invite

Pastors in the Greenville area

to

a social event at

the Blockhouse Restaurant

1619 Augusta St, Greenville, SC 29605

6:30 pm

on Tuesday, September 15

This will be an opportunity

to fellowship with other pastors

and to possibly form small peer groups that could periodically meet for breakfast, lunch, or dinner to discuss theology, church life, or simply to get to know one another better!

Other groups in the presbytery have started social gatherings like this and have been blessed by their time together.

If you have any questions, contact David Howell at (864)414-8491.

Harvesting God's Word for His Children

The Equipping the Saints Team would like to invite the churches across Foothills Presbytery to join us in a mission project for the Thornwell Home for Children.

Each year, many children arrive at Thornwell and the staff makes sure that each child receives an age-appropriate version of the Bible to give them comfort and support as they face the challenges of life.  Our team has decided that this is a simple and powerful gift that our presbytery can provide for Thornwell.

The staff at Thornwell assures us that they can never have too many Bibles!  So let's Harvest God's Word for His Children over the next few months.  Invite your session, Presbytery Women, Bible Study Groups, Mission Teams, and individuals to purchase as many of the Bible versions listed below as possible.  They can deliver them to the Presbytery Office when they are visiting or bring them to the stated Presbytery Meeting on November 10.  This is a wonderful way to share the gift of Scripture with children who need its message of grace, comfort, and love.

If you have any questions, please contact David Howell at (864)414-8491.
