The spray itself isn’t typically a problem for people with asthma. However, a low flying plane can cause anxiety in some people. The DNR plans to spray in the area of Regent to Kendall, and N Allen to Spooner,on Tues, May 22. However, the date could change based on caterpillar development and weather. They will try to start spraying at dawn, weather permitting.

WHEN
: Spraying is expected during the week of May 21-25, 2018. At present, the treatments are
tentatively scheduled for Tuesday May 22.
However, treatments could occur on other dates, depending on weather and caterpillar development.

WHY
: The spraying is necessary to suppress populations of gypsy moth, a destructive and invasive pest that feeds on the leaves of oaks, maples, crabapple, birch and many other species of trees and shrubs.
