Franklin Spirit Days are Here!
When:  The last day of each week in March

Today, March 9 – Backwards Day: Students can wear their clothes backwards. They can simply turn around their shirt or sweatshirt. No backwards pants, please. Teachers may do special backwards activities throughout the day.

Thursday, March 15 Wear-a-Word Day:  Students can wear clothes with words or letters on them. Teachers can also help students participate by helping them make a necklace with a word card on it or by putting tape on their shirt with a word on it. Be creative — the more words the better.

Friday, March 23 Secret Theme Day:  Classrooms will decide what theme they would like to have for the day. Other classrooms will try to guess the class theme. Your child’s classroom teacher will communicate the secret theme to you as the day approaches.

Latino Parent Meeting Report
February 22
See here for the full notes from our Latino Parent Meeting on February 22. Despite freezing rain, we had a purposeful meeting!

Saba Baig, new Immigration Attorney from Catholic Multicultural Center joined us to inform parents on DACA’s newly released update. Saba answered questions and invited parents to make an appointment with her to discuss matters further. We had a number of general announcements and ended the meeting with a BIG shout out for their participation at the Franklin/Randall Winter Carnival, and their support to of our PTO and schools!
Health & Wellness Committee Update

Do you or someone you know have gently used outdoor toys you would be willing to donate to the Franklin & Randall playgrounds? The Franklin/Randall Health & Wellness Committee is looking to gather the following for student use on the playground: sand toys (buckets & shovels), kid size snow shovels, sidewalk chalk, rubber kickballs, athletic cones. Simply drop items in the cardboard box found inside the Health Office at Franklin or Randall. Thank you!

Each student at Franklin and Randall received a BPA free, plastic water bottle from the Franklin-Randall Wellness Council. If your child brings their water bottle home, here are some instructions:
  • Wash the bottle and cap (with warm, soapy water) before using it.
  • Hand wash only (dishwasher may damage).
  • Do not microwave.
  • Do not overfill.
  • Do not fill with hot liquids.

Encourage your child(ren) to drink more water,
especially during the 5210 Challenge!
Volunteer Needed for Supply Box Program
The SchoolKidz supply box program gives parents the option to purchase grade-specific supply kits online at a great price. A volunteer (or two) is needed to help coordinate it for Randall this year. Staples does most of the work- you will help make sure that the supply lists are accurate. Please contact Russell Pietz (he will guide you through the process)!
Interested in Girl Scouts?
A number of parents have expressed their first grade daughters' interest in joining or forming a Girl Scout Troop. If your daughter is not currently in a troop but is interested--first grade or otherwise--please contact Megan Pollock (phone 800.236.2710 ext. 1144), New Membership Development Specialist at Girl Scouts of Wisconsin -- Badgerland.
Goals of the Franklin-Randall Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) include helping children, parents, teachers and schools build a strong and positive school community.
